View Full Version : future mythology
Just what do you think you'll be 1,000 years from now?
You will be poorly comprehended at best.
Your history and fantasy will mix due the fact they were recorded in the same format.
The steps you bled a lifetimes worth of blood to take will be lost in modern technology.
Forgotten by the beings that benefit from the application of what you tested and pondered until it was understood.
Do you think their problems will allow them the time to debate the price we paid.
Maybe they will address current issues by setting their entertainment in our time.
They might do a "21ctry park-when humans rulled the world"
Someone out there is shaking his head.
"No that won't happen God/prophecy/nuclear war/disease/etc will take us home first."
That's why I called it future mythology.
You have to be one dense bastard to believe your generation is the hub that time spins around.
Have at thee.

thank you.. that was an enlightening and humbling experience (reading that)
it makes a lot of sense now that i think about it.. i mean what do we think of 'medieval times' we glamorize it, assume that they were stupid barbarians with a code of honour...
it must have been different...
and we never really realize what they contributed to us... because we are lost in what we are contributing to us...
good job mac... i hope everyone takes as much from this as i have

1,000 years from now scares the shit out of me. Even though i won't know the difference, but maybe thats the problem. I have this thing with Awareness. And its not just death, it bothers me to fucking NUGGETS that I won't be aware (theory) in 1,000 years, but it also bothers me to fucking bollocks that I wasn't aware 1,000 years ago.
How does time pass for Johnny, who has been dead for 7 days now? Or is he beyond time?
Bollocks.

back when i was in grade school my teacher use to talk about how by the time we were seniors we would be living on the moon or some distant planet. 18 to 20 years later im still on this fucking planet!...well there was this one time when the aliens came and........sorry just drifted away for a moment. i look back at those teachers and what we were being taught and just laugh outloud. they actually believed it and we being young and nieve believed it to. so to actually be able to comprehend what it will be like 1000 years, i don't think so. hell they couldn't get any where close 20 years ago!!

I think you missed RW's joke Billyman. He pointed out the you had inadvertantly implied that it took you 18 to 20 years to become a senior in high school. We all know that's not what you meant, but it was still funny.
This is me laughing:

As a child, I used to look out the car window and try to envision the future. Needless to say, a childhood of the Jetson's, elementry school teachers speaking of flying cars, "Choose Your Own Adventure" fantasy books, and the sci-fi channel poisoned my so called vision.
Now I have Anthony Burgess (The Wanting Seed), Philip K. Dick, RPG's, Ren Faire's, random links online, movies, and "what if" questions to poison my "vision".
Good call theMac. I simply "don't know" and I'de be fooling myself if I pretended I did.
