Life has a funny way of directing the focus of your attention. I'm still in the process of putting my attention where it will do the most good for the people around me (I'll spout about that when there's a longer lull in local activity).
I hesitate (with good reason) to differentiate 'net life with IRL as so many have been inclined to do over the first few years of the 'net's short existance. To say that lives shared in this format are "just the internet" is akin to dismissing a snailmail letter that included photos from a close friend or loved one as junk mail.
Bah! The people who do not take this method of communication seriously are the ones who will be emotionally damaged when they finally learn otherwise.
I've been witness to "reality" coming from "just the internet". It's certainly a complex arena of activity. But then again, if you've ever attended a concert or a sporting event, you already have the basic communication skill and the required perception.
Let's say, just for instance, that you and a group of friends decide to meet up and go to see Minimud perform in concert. It won't be easy to hear each other with an arena full of conversations going on at the same time but your attention will focus on the performance once it begins and the entire arena will be singing the same songs.
Afterwards, you may decide to meet up for idle banter.
Kinda like: "I saw a truck pass me the other day while I was waiting to pick up my kid from school. They're building a subdivision nearby and every sort of utility truck imaginable heads down that road.
Don't advertisers think ahead before they stencil a 'Comcast' logo beneath a 'Dodge' logo?!"
That's the truth, btw. I hope to get a photo before they realize what they've done.
For the moment, I leave you with this whisper between musical sets. It was inspired by a brand-new pair of eyes that are almost as beautiful as the ones I watched open for the first time.
PB and Muddy, for chrissake, keep your kids out of advertising! If they come up with something like this, I'll be forced to make fun of them...
