A dirge for the days
The sea! The sea! Is closing fast.
Far from shore, internal deep
Flapping sails, the wind gusts nigh
In the crow's nest, the sailor cries
Of things lost, but not forgotten
How had his life been lived, verbotten
A lost love, a lonely shore
Cries for his return, forever more
The ship draws heavy, the crew so bleak
the surf and waves and reef he sees
On his knees the sailor prays
"Oh my love, why didn't I stay?"
The ship draws nigh, it's final plea
Now is reclaimed, by the sea
The crow's nest, the last to sink
The sailor, the last, beyond the brink
He sees her face, her hair, her love
To his chin, tis all above
The sea! the sea! claimer of gods
Of love, of men, of insolent sods
As he rests, with his men
The sailor knows his ultimate sin
Leaving his love, a lonely shore
His love he will see, nevermore
A bed of silt, wreckage and decay
The place the sailor rests today
His love continues as time were still
His love is gone, her heart he killed
The sea! the sea! mother of all
Consumer, devourer, raveger of all
Though time and space, be all but fixed
The love they felt, still exhists
A lonely shore, a distant land
A white figure is said to stand
Waiting, waiting, for her love to come
For their union to be again as one
Years pass, and times change
Love it seems, alone remains
The sea! The sea! Is closing fast.
Far from shore, internal deep
Flapping sails, the wind gusts nigh
In the crow's nest, the sailor cries
Of things lost, but not forgotten
How had his life been lived, verbotten
A lost love, a lonely shore
Cries for his return, forever more
