View Full Version : lets get this straight: reality TV is NOT reality
WIN THIS BABY (http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/19700.htm)
this should absolutely clarify once and for all what reality TV is : not reality
It appears that in this show they simply edited together the normal process of adoption in the same way they WOULD have editted a reality TV show.
So lets get this straight
(because we are all going to hell for sharing music files)
REALITY TV IS A WAY TO GET OUT OF PAYING ACTOR'S GUILD DUES

why did you change your avatar?
aw shit
this again?
I need to dump the sig too but I'm too busy writing other places to fuck around here much and I have nothing to replace it with.
My inspiration feeds other words now and avoids the places I am watched.

hello?
tv baby adoption?
while i'm morally glad adoption is getting some publicity i'm not terribly happy with the medium. it does seem like a "win this baby" plot.
oh well. take it where we can get it. i didnt watch it. i wanted to, but this week was finals and last week was dead week. tv kinda gets a last priority on weeks like this.
should i ever decide i am in a position to have another one, and i havent managed to get knocked up again yet, i do plan to adopt. i don't think, however, that i will let abc follow me around with thier cameras.
tlc, maybe. the discovery channel, perhaps. but i'm not going to have one of the most important moments of my life edited all to hell and narrated by charlie gibson and diane sawyer.

Not to derail the thread, but somewhere I heard about a guy that used to be in the background on one of the morning news shows like "Today." You know, where they go out on the street and talk to people. Anyway, this guy joined the actors union so that every time the network scanned his face, they would have to pay him for appearing on air.
Can't decide if that's ingenious or the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Has anyone watched that
Trading Spouses: Meet your new mommy?
What the hell?
I saw commercials for it, haven't seen it. I don't plan on watching it. I can not stand reality shows. I see no humor in watching people eat bugs or chose a spouse on t.v. And the mommy switch is totally ridiculous. Can you imagine how that is going to effect the kids?

I can't believe my account still works. Thumbs up, forum admins.
We have a reality TV show over here that's been going a while that sounds similar to your spouse swap thing. It's called Wife Swap, where 2 very different families swap wives for 2 weeks. The first week the new wives have to fill in the role of the 'ex'-wife, but at the start of the second week the new wife is allowed to exert her authority and make her new family follow her rules.
What follows? Lots of arguing, shouting, crying, and screaming for warm bosom of mummy. From everybody.
The best (worst?) bit is at the end where all 4 get together and tell each other how to rule their lives from now on.
To be brutally honest, it's not particularly entertaining, but it's pretty watchable. I hate Big Brother and the like, and reality TV shows usually make me want to cry in a corner somewhere, but Wife Swap is actually pretty good. And funny, too. But only in a drinking-game-'drink-every-time-she-breaks-down-in-tears-and-curls-up-in-the-foetal-position' way funny.
