a short story about birds

most people are perplexed
in the face of birds
with beaks
and wings
and assorted bird-related things
why is that? you may ask. because birds are strange
it is a fact.

a quandary.

my bird feeders are doing well this year
so far this year I've identified over 20 species of bird at them while I wash dishes at the sink

for the last few days I've had a painted bunting at the feeder
