Police Standoff at Local Subway Restaurant (http://kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=1801103)

Business at busy shopping center at the intersection of South Broadway and Shelly Drive was interrupted after a four hour police standoff at a Subway restaurant.

Around 9 A.M., the Subway manager called police, saying a female employee was threatening to kill herself.

22-year-old Ashley Lanell Hanson barricaded herself inside the restaurant's bathroom with a handgun.

Tyler police quickly evacuated nearby businesses and closed off the entrance to Shelly Drive.

After four hours of negotiations, the employee pushed the handgun out of the bathroom and gave herself up to police without force.

Police say the Ashley Hanson will undergo a mental evaluation and has a history of suicide attempts.

They have yet to make a decision on possible charges.

something they left out of this story:
they called in the S.W.A.T. team

so.......
they shut down a side street of a major through-way

they cleared out several businesses

for FOUR hours

because she wanted to shoot herself

I had a buddy, with a long sad story and crummy parents, who broke into his father's house one day and shot himself

this gal should have gone home and shot herself, instead she has a "history" of attempted suicide

If she truly wanted to kill herself she wouldve done so at home without threatening it. She just wanted a attention.

Sometimes that cry for attention is more like a cry for helo.....

I go in there usually twice a month probably and all of the girls that work there are friendly, I wish I knew which one of it was...

threatening suicide is often a cry for help... most people that are going to kill themselves, will do so, and you will have no idea it was coming until one day you come in and find them, attached with some note explaining why... I remember when studying psychology.. my professor telling me.. one of the signs of a possible suicide person, someone with a history of depression, that is way too happy.. which is odd, but true..... also a large percentage of suicides are a quick decision.. based on something that time could have helped.. I've always said it is a permanent solution to a temporary problem..

I feel sorry for her..

one thing that's funny to me.. the SWAT team for one 22 year old, locked in a bathroom with one gun.. that's a little drastic if you ask me.

I think they were hoping she was a terrorist PB. “We’ve got another one! Woohoo!”

I agree with you a little on the “cry for help” thing but I’m sorry, this chick having threatened over and over again has received some sort of counseling I’m sure. Either she doesn’t want the help provided or she just wants the attention and the “feel sorry for her” in which you provide.

It’s a toss up but I’m betting on the latter.

If I loose that bet, put her on drugs. I’ll buy her a bottle.
