Here is some info on spiders.... Oh to be a serviceman in Iraq!!!
They run 10 mph, jump three feet, are a nocturnal spider, so only come out at night unless they are in shade. When they bite you, you are injected with Novocaine so you go numb instantly. You don't even know you are bitten when you are sleeping, so you wake up with part of your leg or arm missing because it has been gnawing on it all night long. If you are walking around and you bump something that is casting a shadow over it, and the sun makes contact with it, you better run. It will instantly run for your shadow, and scream the whole time it is chasing you.

PS. The one on the bottom is eating the one on the top. These are Spiders found daily in IRAQ by US troops. Imagine waking up and seeing one of these in your tent!!

I like spiders. Most are beneficial and not really all that bothersome. I try and stick 'em outside or elsewhere in the house when they irritate me. (depends on the weather outdoors) :)

Reuters: My 26, 2004

Thousands of the so-called Iraqi sand spiders were being shipped to Calgary, Alberta in Canada for scientific study when it was noted that a container housing several hundred of the non-arachnids was cracked on the bottom, and the multi-legged creatures had escaped in the Calgary Warehouse where they were being stored overnight. Several were recaptured in the warehouse, but hundreds are still unaccounted for.

As these creatures can actually survive very cold temperatures, it is thought that they may in fact survive the summer and early fall, but will likely die off by winter, unless they find places to live which will provide a degree of escape from sub-zero temperatures.

It is a common misconception that it's cold in Calgary. (Don't look at the weather thread to contridict me right now)

It doesn't get cold here until week of the stampede.

Just keep your boots on. They usually just bite toes...even when the chinooks are blowing.

Right up until I saw that first Spider. Then I high-tailed it back to Houston.

P.S. Bow River...Awesome fly-fishing.

Looking at those spiders,It's hard to understand why it's ok to eat Lobsters and crabs. Just because it comes from the sea is all the justification we need. Look at those spider legs. Don't it remind you of King Crab Legs?
