Another example of lacking parental responsibility (http://www.wisinfo.com/sheboyganpress/news/archive/local_14047205.shtml)

This is the kind of thing that totally pisses me off, this kid, old enough to know better, pulls some stupid stunt and gets plastered all over national news because of it. I watched the segment on Good Morning America the other day and it just got me all riled up first thing in the morning. If my daughter pulled something like this, she would be punished, not rewarded with a special trip to NYC to be put all over the television. And the mother had the gall to say "Its too bad the stores don't have these machine tested so that this can't happen." ITS TOO BAD STUPID PEOPLE CAN'T WATCH THEIR OWN FUCKING CHILDREN IN A STORE SO THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN. Who would have thought that a SEVEN YEAR OLD CHILD wouldn't know better than to climb into a glass box??? My daughter is six, and she would never do that, she has discipline, she has respect for others and for property, and I don't let her go off by herself in a grocery store.

Dumbass people.

/end rant
Sorry folks :)

No apology necessary. Rant on baby!

A couple of things:

It took an hour to get him out? Sheeiit, it may have taken a dollar or so, but I eventually could’ve got the “grabber” around his head and dropped him into the prize recovery box. Pfffft, buncha armatures.

“Little Houdini”? If the little shit was any kind of a Houdini, he could’ve gotten out now couldn’t he?

I’m pretty sure the kid wasn’t “sucked” into the machine so I can just imagine the actual time it took for him to maneuver his body to get in. The father is clearly a dumbass but no one else saw this kid CLIMBING INTO A MACHINE!!??

You must not have a boy daughter. While I commend your parenting, kids explore. I did.

And at 7 the brain doesn't work like an adults. Kid sees toys. Kid wants toys. Kid tries to get toys.

You're overreacting to the kid's actions. But not to the stupid media shit that followed.

pmahn, your average 7 year old knows the difference between wanting something, and being able to have something. Your average 7 year old wouldn't even think to climb into that tiny hole to get the toy. You're average father would have looked at his son at least once during the time it would have taken him to climb all the way into the machine.

I'm not reacting to the kid's actions at all - I'm reacting to the parents actions on that day and their choices from that day forward. Maybe what this kid did was a "kids do the darndest things" moment. However that does not excuse the parents from their job of teaching the child the difference between right and wrong. In my opinion, they actually reinforced his poor judgement by taking him out of school, bringing him to NY and parading him in front of the entire country as "the child trapped in a vending machine".

How long do you suppose before a lawsuit for damages is filed against the grocery store, the vending machine manufacturer, and even the vending machine owner??? Anyone want to take bets?

It depends on how long the media keeps them in the spotlight and how long the "fame" takes to wear off.

And the message for the children is "If I do something really stupid I can get on TV!!"

As for 7 year old girls knowing better - I'm not sure. POS's daughter (who is actually only 6) is in his words "morally handicapped", she wouldn't think twice about doing something the rest of us probably wouldn't approve of. I guess it depends on the child (and their parents).
