Because of a the Y chromosome's inability to repair itself as the X chromosome does, the male gender has a lifespan of 125,000 years. Cuumulative mutations to the Y chromosome will cause increased infertility.

Kol, what's your source?

In that the X-Y chromosome pairing as sex determinant is at least 18 million years old, I have to question the validity of the statement above.
