This started as a rant about my parents, mostly because my mom kicked me out of her house and now expects me to take care of her when she has pneumonia. It almost took a turn to finish as a rant about my friends who are always gone when I need them but it ended up a thank you to the people who are there for me even when I don't ask for their help. I'm posting it here because a couple of my good friends are forum members.

That's what I get for thinking about myself,
For trying to do the right thing,

You don't kiss my forehead when you say goodbye,
Where's the mommy and daddy I thought I had when I was little?
Where are the friends you say you are,
Where are the friends I have,
Only a few that give and don't take.

I'm exhausted,
To the point I get sick for no reason,
Vicodin's how I slept last night,
That's how worn thin I am,
Were it not for those few true friends I'd be worse,
I have them to thank for sanity,
They are like coffee in the morning,
Without them I'm lost and unhappy.

I guess this is a thank you,
A thank you to my true friends,
You know who you are,
Those of you I love,
Those who don't knock me down when I try to stand up,
Those who know how much a smile can mean,
To you I say thanks,
Thanks for everything.
