HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania woman is accused of locking her daughter in a car trunk while she visited her husband in prison.

The woman was arrested this weekend at a state prison about 95 miles east of Pittsburgh. State police say prison guards heard crying and yelling coming from the vehicle -- and found the 3-year-old girl in the trunk.

Police say the woman apparently locked her in after prison officials wouldn't let the girl enter because she wasn't on a visitors list. Police say the girl was in the trunk for about 40 minutes, but wasn't hurt.

The mother is facing charges of endangerment and attempted aggravated assault. The girl's been turned over to child welfare officials.

people should have to obtain a license before being allowed to procreate. that woman deserves no child.

Why didn't she just leave her in the carseat like the other unfit parents? Then she could always use the excuse "I thought I had already dropped her off at the babysitter's house!"

Not to lose sight of the fact that this woman is an IDIOT....... but why wouldn't the prison let the child in? I understand she wasn't on "the list" but give me a BREAK!

Not to jump on something... but....
While it is a common statement when people do something as utterly inhumane and stupid as this, the license to procreate is something i would not be able to support. i only say this because at the rate things are going in this country its not that far-fetched an idea.
ever read brave new world?
the reason i say this is because if that were true i never would have gotten one to have eva. the person i was the day i conceived and the person i was the day i had her were two very different people.

kids change some folks.

Children have many orifices in which to hide jail breaking tools?

And the mother doesn't?

Yes, she does, but it is both more likely and legally permissable to search the mother. That being said, I WAS kidding (mostly).
