SLH celebrates his 21st birthday Friday, the 15th of August.
This is an open invitation to any Tribal who cares to come, to gather at our home in the Woodlands, Texas (just north of Houston) that evening and/or the next day, Saturday the 16th to help celebrate.
I realize that most of you cannot come, and that's fine. The Tribe has been a great sorce of friendship and camaraderie for both of us, and we look forward to meeting more of you in times to come.
I hope that some of the Tylerites, and Sauron from Austin, at least, can be here. Due to the fact that it is a weekday and workday for most, the party won't get started till late evening and will likely run all night.
Come join us if you can.

Ah, you're awake, now would you kindly give the source of the following comment you made in the "Airborne" thread over at "Jock's palace".
Slim to none, from looking at the available employment listings.
And, er, no, I don't think I'll be able to make it.

I'd love to come, Simon, but I can't get away from work.
We're talking about 42 hours round-trip transit time, which would require another driver and a 96-hour liberty chit which the command won't grant...
Another time :\

Skalie, couple of months ago I researched employment options in NZ, looking at ads and employment service listings on the net. Just curiosity, nothing more. I didn't save the links.

Ah, the infamous 21st birthday. I remember some of mine. :) I believe we travelled to Nevada for the day to consume large amounts of "free" alcohol while attempting to clean out a casino. Seems the drinks aren't quite as free when you factor in the cost of gambling but, hey, whatever you have to tell yourself to get by.

My 21st sucked. You'll have my thoughts, and I'll take a shot for you from here. I won't be able to make it, I'll be covering work for another's vacation time. Happy Birthday in advance, because I don't usually touch the computer on Fridays.

My 21st was just a special meal with close family. Dad and his SO, sister and her hubby. That was it actually... but I have a pretty crap birthday as far as celebrating is concerned. Two days after Christmas - everyone is away or recovering.
Now, my 20th was a different story altogether. My Dad never tires of telling the story... We (me dad and his so) went and stayed with so's freinds for Christmas. I went out with the younger people in the group for my birhtday night and got totally rat-arsed. Fantastic night.
The next morning we had to drive back home. What normally takes a couple of hours took all fucking day. Dad had to stop the car every 5 minutes so I could puke. We stopped 3 times so I could puke by the side of the road, then we stopped off at a friends house, and I puked in the stream outside, then on the road a few more timess, then we went to the hospital to see another friend, where I spent about an hour hugging the porceline.
Mac? Muddy? are you going to this or not???
I think I'll go, but spend the time with my friend in Houston, rather than watch you all get smashing drunk... especially with Devin with me.
Oh and.. I don't remember my 21st birthday to be honest with you.
that can be good or bad... but like I said.. I don't really remember. I know we did go to the liquor store, and the guy didn't card me.. so i showed it to him anyways.. but after that.... I don't remember.

Good question, PB. Is this gonna happen? If so, somebody needs to say yea or nay as to their intent.
Mac, Muddy, D, Saron, PB, Rage - hell all the Texans are close enough to be here. I have extended the invite, and do so again. I would most especially extend it to those in Texas I've never met (such as Lady Sianna), or anyone else who wants to come.
And PB, I doubt it will be a night of drunken debauchery - not my style, nor is it SLH's. 'Sides, I like Devin, he likes both SLH and I, so he is especially welcome. The future of anything is the children, so I enjoy the chance to meet the future.
And Squee, all philosophical differences aside, if you can come I'll pour you a stiff one and discuss anything you'd like to, within reason.
