Seems the U.S. is claiming to have killed the sons of Saddam. They passed out pictures of the dead sons to the Iraqi people to convince them that we had killed the two of them. When the people were still unconvinced, we sent in our doctors to make the faces "appear as lifelike as possible."
Not to be distasteful, but these look like claymation. I don't know if I would be 100% convinced that these are infact the Hussein boys.
I'm also curious as to if the U.S. feels that showing the public these pictures will finally break the spirit of the resistance in Iraq or if we are just parading the spoils of war. I tend to think it's the latter.

Mexican? Hah!
Did you know that Cheech Marin (of Cheech and Chong) is Iranian? True fact.

Got a source for that little tidbit, Uber? According to seven different biographies he was the son of a chicano LAPD officer.

What you're seeing in those pictures is a mortician's best effort to recreate familiar facial features. Hair has been cut, beards trimmed and/or shaved, makeup applied above the shoulder to approximate original skin tones (with no bloodflow, skin lightens in all cases).
Notice the eye repair on the far left. Putty.
The very last time I saw the Colonel in his casket, his eyes and lips were super-glued closed. It didn't look like him but I knew that it once was. Still, he looked "plastic".
Those pics are typical corpses made up so that family and friends can see them as they once were.
The alternative is to take the corpses out into public for all to see. Should they be dragged through the streets as was done to troops in Somalia?
X-rays, dental records, DNA, photographs...
How much "proof" is required to identify a body?
This one is visual familiarity.

weren't we the country who was up in arms when POW's were questioned on tv?
now we're parading dead bodies of our enemies across the screen.
and we're supposed to be the civilized country.

The world is demanding proof. How would you handle it?

I need to see if I can remember where I read that. From what I remember of what I saw, his father was Iranian and changed his name or something like that.
If I can't then just chalk it up to senility and mad ramblings, ok?
Even if true, he makes a better Mexican than most of them. Actually, his mother is Mexican so I guess he can claim that status.
I think we should start the rumor all over the net if it isn't true.
I think I should start drinking heavily.

I'm rather intersted in how we "should" have handled this situation. I haven't looked, and therefore havn't heard any results from DNA tests, dental records or such, so I'm not sure they are his sons. To me, the before and after pictures posted on one of Denver's news sites didn't seem to match. Of course, one has a clean shaven look, and the other a thick beard. It's hard to tell.
But if a general public of their own country demands to see pictures of the bodies to verify their deaths, what are we supposed to do, other than meet the demands? I realize that we had a huge fit when that was done to our troops, but we didn't ask to see it.
