Some of you are probably too young to remember what, "you sound like a broken record", means.

Fortunately for you, that's not what I'm talking about ;)

Since the mid 1930's, the word "Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis" (45 letters) has been listed as the longest word in the English language.

I added a prefix for shits and giggles in another thread and thought, "that was easy. Too easy."

So. Tell me why the following word isn't a word (83 letters):
Pachydermialpostmenopausalconvalescentpneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

Basically, a mommy elephant stops going into heat, sucks volcano dust and gets better.

Couple of more words like this and we can write the first book of bedtime stories for freakishly gifted children. Two pages at best.

Longest word of debateable validity. Not everybody accepts the word, myself included (although I recognize its recognition). It's linguistic ejaculate.

"a factitious word alleged to mean 'a lung disease caused by the inhalation of very fine silica dust' but occurring chiefly as an instance of a very long word." [OED]

I have always thought it was a lame joke, seeing that the word is useless (but not unusable).

Pachydermialpostmenopausalconvalescentpneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is less of a word as the Pachydermialpostmenopausalconvalescent has no bearing on the pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. However technically I suppose that doesn't matter at all. Look at the Germans afterall; they'll compound anything to no end.

To my understanding language is supposed to facilitate communication, so I have a hard time qualifying the italicized words above, even as nomenclature.

Still, perhaps you should publish a paper on the phenomenon in a push for an inclusion in the dictionary as 'a facticious word alleged to mean '...'.'

Hobby... Ok. Back I go, collecting maps, skins, bots, tools and mods for Q3.

Holly's gotten used to me being Uriel so I'm stuck with it until I can figure out how to make skins using the guy in my avatar. May have to outsource for that.

Replaced some weapons (rail -> phaser-rifle, lightning-gun -> flamethrower, etc) and camped a few bots for this shot. Bin Laden and his crew are in the red camp.

Still too much time on my hands, perhaps, but you should see my six-year-old assign parameters and balance teams. Mostly we just Hide-and-seek or Follow-the-leader. Good fun when I have something new for her after school.

As for the long words, don't forget that I'm antisesquipedalian. Still, they make me grin.

Looks like I took the snapshot at just the right time. I was waiting for the centaur to rear up and got more rear than I bargained for. Couldn't have timed that profile if I'd planned it.

I'm thinking that what you're seeing on the naked chick (Conni) are remnants of a previous build. In fact, she's wearing a bikini (as you'll see in the following pic).

That's Conni, left of center. Ezekial ("Repent thyself for you are sin") is right of center. My crosshair's on his ass but that was just to get them all in the frame. No idea who those other two are.

I tried being Bender for a while yesterday but I don't want Holly yelling, "Bite my shiny, metal ass", if she gets knocked down in the playground.
