im sitting in the right hand side of one of those double turn lane thingys. i had decided to skip class and go get some lunch because my professor hates me (and my big mouth) and i figured id just make it a better day for both of us. im deciding between turkey breast or chicken salad when the door of the van in front and to the left of me suddenly bursts open on the passenger side and a woman starts kicking the window of the man in the car next to her
"please help me! theyre kidnapping me!"
all i can see is her foot, and she is obviously being restrained from within. a woman's voice within the van says
"its not like that, shes a mental patient."
the woman keeps on screaming for help and another woman gets out of the back of the van and starts trying to put her legs back inside. this was not a hospital vehicle, it had no special tags or identifiers of any kind, and the woman i saw clearly was not dressed in hospital scrubs or anything of the sort.
hell, i didnt know what to do. i pulled out of the lane and turned right, and then jumped on my cell phone and called 911. i told them the color and model of the van and the license plate number. then i circled back around and there was a police officer there. he had pulled the van into a parking lot and was talking to the women inside.
what would you do? although the woman was being restrained, her would-be kidnappers didnt pull out guns or knives or anything. this is a city where all the major medical facilities, including mental and behavioural, are located. nevertheless, it was disturbing.
i hadnt even had lunch yet.

i don't see why anyone would ignore that and just believe the woman outright. hell yeah i'd call the cops. if it really is a mental patient, they're going to need a police escort, possibly an ambulance, to ensure the woman or her providers aren't injured if she tries to jump out of the moving vehicle.

i think that any professional mental care provider would more than understand if a bystander felt the need to contact the authorities if their patient behaved that way. don't feel guilty at all.

Yes, cops...thats what they are for...

Do you think it was a mental patient?? Reading it reminded me of the tactics employed by 'deprogrammers' who abduct people from cults and attempt to 'bring them back'(for some reason)...you know who Im on about...

good use of the cell phone. Let the police sort it out. Video it if possible and send it to A.) America's most wanted B.) Scariest police chases or C.) America's funniest home videos; whichever it fits in to.

I think calling the police was a good idea. The worst it could do is inconvience someone.
