... because no matter how I twist my head around it, crap is the end result:

Can't stop addicted to the shin dig
Cop top he says I'm gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk the feeling that you stay for
In time I want to be your best friend
Eastside love is living on the westend
Knock out but boy you better come to
Don't die you know the truth is some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burnin' so bright I wonder what the wave meant
White heat is screaming in the jungle
Complete the motion if you stumble
Go ask the dust for any answers
Come back strong with 50 belly dancers

[Chorus:]
The world I love
The tears I drop
To be part of
The wave can't stop
Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love
The trains I hop
To be part of
The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to

Sweetheart is bleeding in the snowcone
So smart she's leading me to ozone
Music the great communicator
Use two sticks to make it in the nature
I'll get you into penetration
The gender of a generation
The birth of every other nation
Worth your weight the gold of meditation
This chapter's going to be a close one
Smoke rings I know your going to blow one
All on a spaceship persevering
Use my hands for everything but steering
Can't stop the spirits when they need you
Mop tops are happy when they feed you
J. Butterfly is in the treetop
Birds that blow the meaning into bebop

[Repeat Chorus]

Wait a minute I'm passing out
Win or lose just like you
Far more shocking
Than anything i ever knew
How about you
10 more reasons
Why i need somebody new just like you
Far more shocking than anything I ever knew
Right on cue

Can't stop addicted to the shin dig
Cop top he says I'm gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk the feeling that you stay for
In time I want to be your best friend
Eastside love is living on the westend
Knock out but boy you better come to
Don't die you know the truth is some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burnin' so bright I wonder what the wave meant

Kick start the golden generator
Sweet talk but don't intimidate her
Can't stop the gods from engineering
Feel no need for any interfering
Your image in the dictionary
This life is more than ordinary
Can I get 2 maybe even 3 of these
Come from space
To teach you of the pliedes
Can't stop the spirits when they need you
This life is more than just a read thru

Gah!

Now I know what I'd do with Cruise's hypothetical million. I'd invest in the R&D of a History Eraser Button specifically designed to unwrite that drek.

If you can't fix it or explain its "deeper meaning" (ffft), just let it suck and pick something of your own.

I know I'm sticking my neck out here. Could be that was a "song" by some dreadful rapper I've never heard of.

With Nelly's "It's getting hot in here," Avril's "Complicated" and John Mayer's "Your body is a wonderland" (actual lyrics = "yo bah hee inna wanna la," according to the way he "sings" it) all up for Grammys for Record of the Year, it's no secret that there are roomfulls of monkeys writing hit songs these days.

As for the above-quoted "dreck," I love it. I read it three times. I have no idea if it's already a song by somebody or if you wrote it yourself, but I know I like it. Here's why: it's like a kid playing in a sandbox of words.

I get tired of words always having to make sense, especially in a musical space. Ira Gershwin said "the difference between lyrics and poetry is that lyrics are meant to be sung, and words are meant to be read." This song just goes by the rhythm of the words, and that's fine. Put that sucker to a boom-bam beat and it'd be killer.

There's nothing wrong with using words to create little mental images, even if they don't go together. Think for a second about "Stairway to heaven" or "Bohemian Rhapsody" (or even "You can call me Al" by Paul Simon).

All sheer gibberish, but they raise mental image after mental image. Your brain responds to them and the music in a completely different way than trying to keep up with a story. Those kind of songs are always playful, and that's one of the main things music is supposed to be.

Don't forget, the working title for the Beatles' "Yesterday" was "Scrambled Eggs." Imagine what the lyrics must have been like for that.

Sorry, I don't do rap.

Red Hot Chili Peppers. And yup, it's just like reaching into a sandbox of words. That works in several instances but in this case, there are a lot of cats in the neighborhood. What should have been sand is, instead, a handful of cat shit.

"Can't Stop".

Forgive me.

I dig that tune.

That's it. I'm old now.

Make note of the circumstance so you can recognize it when you get here.

Either that or Mudflap likes catshit ;)

I can turn that rhyme in to something beautiful:

INXS
Kick (1987)
Mediate

Hallucinate
Dessegregate
Mediate
Alleviate
Try not to hate

Love your mate
Don't suffocate on your own hate
Designate your love as fate
A one world state
As human freight
The number eight
A white black state
A gentle trait
The broken crate
A heavy weight
Or just too late
Like pretty Kate has sex ornate
Now devastate
Appreciate
Depreciate
Fabricate
Emulate
The truth dilate
Special date
The animal we ate
Guilt debate
The edge serrate
A better rate
The youth irate
Deliberate

Fascinate
Deviate
Reinstate
Liberate
To moderate
Recreate
Or detonate
Annihiliate
Atomic fate

Mediate
Clear the state
Activate
Now radiate
A perfect state
Food on plate
Gravitate
The Earth's own weight
Designate your love as fate
At ninety-eight we all rotate

Hallucinate
Dessegregate
Mediate
Alleviate
Try not to hate

Love your mate
Don't suffocate on your own hate
Designate your love as fate
A one world state
As human freight
The number eight
A white black state
A gentle trait
The broken crate

A heavy weight
Or just too late
Like pretty Kate has sex ornate

Now devastate
Appreciate
Depreciate
Fabricate
Emulate
The truth dilate
Special date
The animals we ate
Guilt debate
The edge serrate
A better rate
The youth irate
Deliberate
Fascinate
Deviate
Reinstate

Liberate
Liberate
Liberate
Liberate

Got balls and thought that I would watch it.
Still think it's just a load of catshit.
Hit "close" to make it all just go away.
Had to watch some Homestar. Almost blew my day away.

Don't try to write it if you can't do.
Read "King" and get yourself some Blue Flu.

Ok. Screw bad attempts at music.

Unscrew THIS: http://www.iran-e-azad.org/stoning/video.html

And don't EVEN try to compare that shit to Rodney King.

WATCH!

Witness the details of your fears.

Do it.

Warning: Get your kids out of the room.

Can't see the Mullah as they stone you.
Your kids are forced to watch you boo hoo.
Sit still and Allah will forgive you.
Take it in the face and life will soon forget you.

Get serious about pain.

What you feel is miniscule.

Same here. I have much to learn.

Red hot chilli peppers are on a quest to dumb things down to
a kindergarden level, and im not talking about just lyrics.

Their music is at an all time simple level, and like you said before,
its like their reaching in and grabbing a handful of nonsensical
words to form a sentence.

How can this shit mean anything to them?

I remember when they used to write good music, this, (and what
they've been doing for a while now.) is pathetic.
