Well, I am now around 3 months to go till I can come home. YAY!!!
But... always a but in there somewhere... I re-ran the math and the only way I can make my roadtrip work is if I take a loan. Thanks. Which is no problem- I'll do it.
But... damn, another one... I have contacted several schools in Texas for teaching when I get back and I got basically the same response- sorry but no.
I'm not certified. Nor can I just go to college when I get home to get certified- I don't have the money... oh well. Using the loan for college- not an option. I won't do it. I owe toooo much in student loans as it is.
Options:
1. take the trip and make it last as long as I can- 6 months or more.
2. come back to this school in Korea and teach either for 6 months or a year(I will get a significant pay raise if I do)
3. I have already looked into teaching at a university here- supposed to meet someone who works at one now this weekend- to talk about my qualifications. So perhaps come back and work at an university(huge pay raise, basically 7 months off a year as paid vacation, and maybe work 20 hours a week. Yes, I am considering this even if it does sound too good to be true.
4. go and find a Joe Shmo job after my roadtrip and see where I end up.
The way it looks people, I am/will be the unwilling expat. The one who stays overseas because he can't get a job stateside that is worth a damn.
Thoughts anyone?
