Mr. Cash has lived the life of the blues traveller. His music is right because of it. Whether you love it or hate it, it's still right.

I am a fan of this song, but It makes me sad the song is one that sounds suicidal and for cash to sing it at his age, I think he is sending a message to us all … or I am just insane

That message is called "resignation".
"Closure" is applicable as well.
It's not about suicide. Look at it again. Watch his wife. June is allowing him to go with dignity and respect.
I predict awards. Johnny won't have any more use for them than the ones gathering dust. The one reward that matters is beating in your heart.
I feel it.
A Grammy isn't enough. It'll have to do.
I thought it was NIN at first.....they have a very good video for "Hurt" too....I'll have to check this one out when I get home though
Man, Ive heard the song done by cash before., but this shit was straight up sad. :(
Not in like a "hes to old for this" type of way.
More like an epic, a legendary tragedy.

With Cash singing this song it brings about a whole new perspective.
His voice sounds like the life he has experince. He's a tough old dude. In recent years he has suffered from many strokes and cancer.
Not to mention the jailtime, and drug abuse he went thru.

My mom is a big fan of Johnny Cash, has been for over 40 years. I showed her this today. I'm glad I did, even though she cried. She identifies so strongly with the sense of loss and, yes, resignation, this song exudes.
This is a wonderful song for Grandma to see thanks for sharing with her uncle. I like it. Clayton, you are a little off, try again.
