What do you do on hold?

<FONT COLOR="limegreen">Ok this is just nasty but funny in a sick sorta way....

Today while I was taking calls at work I got the notorious 'beep' in my ear indicating I had just gotten a call. Since I was in the middle of posting here. I choose to finish my sentence first (10 seconds max). This left the customer on 'Mute' I can hear them they cant hear anything ....

Well what do my wondering ears hear but the sound of a stream of water going into what sounds like a toilet. Thinking to myself hopefully they are just doing the dishes .... I here a grunt and the sound of a toilet flushing ....

Im disgusted now and really not sure i wanna take this call ... but of course I must ... so i proceed to tech the call ... in the back of my mind I wonder what would have happened if i had answered immediately and not left them on 'hold' .....

SO my question is what weird things do you do on hold?

I tend to pick and my nails, blow my nose, take a nap, write emails.... semi normal stuff in my opinion. ...</FONT c>

If I'm at work, I tend to continue whatever task it is I'm working on, which sometimes includes taking other calls.

When I'm at home and somebody puts me on hold to answer their call-waiting, they have about ten seconds to come back or I hang up. Call waiting is the most irritating invention since that Kazoo.

On the subject of phone calls... I can't stand answering machines. I understand why they're useful, but don't care. I hate the feeling that someone's listening to me talk, evaluating if they feel like speaking to me.

then I remember I get paid by the hour.

When I put someone on hold I try to pick the radio station they will hate the most.

Gansta-Rap for all middle aged white guys.
The All-Ted-Nugent-Station for most women.
Oldies for young people.
New Mix stations for Old people.
Rave-music for those first-thing-in-the- morning callers
Latina Polka for anyone who sounds like they have something important to say.
Euro Dance for family members.
And the Pantera Is Coming To Your House To Kill You station for phone solicitors.

Every once in a while I'll slip some Christmas music in when a Jewish person call in August.

But other than that if you can stand the obsenitys call me.
