She's going to be 10 on March 3.

It's a Special Birthday for Kristine: Not only is she going to be 10 (THAT'S TEN)
Her birthday seems to fall on a numbers sign.

03-03-03

She's huge into astology, astronomy and numbers (Ya, she's only 10 and she's "weird"...)

Any ideas, what this hockey loving little thing would like for her Big 1 - 0 ???

Birthday gifts for a ten year old girl into astrology, astronomy, and numbers?

"Astrology: True or False" by B. Culver & P. Ianna

Buy her a good telescope.

Get her Asimov's books on mathematics: "Realm of Numbers", "Realm of Measure", "Realm of Algebra", "Quick and Easy Math", & "History of Mathematics (a chart). The best books about math of which I know.

Are Asimov's works age reflective/appropriate?

Barbie

ps. Thanks for the ideas

Asimov's works on math are intended for a junior high level audience. An intelligent 10 year old who reads should have no difficulty with them.

I like the telescope idea. That coupled with a trip to the local planetarium will let her reach for the stars!

That actually made me flinch.

ummm

I'd take her to play pool

watch the planets interact with the math and suddenly...physics is born

a side question:
how many of you are doing what you enjoyed doing when you where 10?

You can have a star (http://www.starregistry.com/) named after her.

Careful with the recipes. Interesting stuff about flying on brooms.

Call it what you want, my daughter has one and thought it was the coolest thing she ever got.
It also made astronomy a very personal thing with her as she was "up there".

Just for clarification, he's talking about stars, not brooms.

Isn't there a way to purchase real estate on the Moon? Been a while since it crossed my mind.

Good shots, folks :)

Well, it does sound like a nice idea.

I will think about it.

And Kol: Thanks :)
