Cyber warfare (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A38110-2003Feb6.html)

"... Do you want to legitimize that kind of weaponry?"

now the conspriacy theorist would begin to point his finger and say AHHA!!!!
They warn us about viruses and worms because they release betas at small targets to judge the effectiveness.....right?
NO!
thats deception
the pentagon is the only real hacker

well...whatever, I won't go there

but seriously, this does not surprise me.

most of you folks are more interwebnet savy than I
so I'd like to hear your ideas

the military uses of the internet,
hacking as weaponry
etc

a very smart man I know once pointed out they used to build skyscraper office buildings in big cities because you had to have room to store all that paperwork that went along with business

the server has replaced the skyscraper

what happens when someone flys a cyber plane into the REAL world trade center?

"There are questions about collateral damage," Clarke said. As an example, he cited the possibility that a computer attack on an electric power grid, intended to pull the plug on military facilities, might end up turning off electricity to hospitals on the same network.

"There also is an issue, frankly, that's similar to the strategic nuclear issue which is: Do you ever want to do it? Do you want to legitimize that kind of weaponry?" Clarke added.

Quoted from the article.

Collateral damage? It's inevitable.

Legitimization of the "weaponry"? There exists no weapon system ever devised by man that has NOT been used at some point by someone. This type of attack has already taken place in Australia as a "cyber-terrorist" attack by a single individual on civil infrastructure control systems, and probably elsewhere as well.
