(not gettin a video card, my old machine will become a test machine / linux box. I'll pull my radeon 8500LE out of it and throw it in the new box, and put my old geforce2mx in the old box. Not going to buy a new video card until the next-generation comes out, because with the 8500LE i can run just about anything at human-readable resolutions. Why bother getting a geforce4 or a newer radeon if doom3 will run like poo on them anyway.
Not a big fan of Western Digital. They have a huge failure rate at my company within the first year if you run them 24/7. Same with IBM Deckstars.
Seagate Barracudas run like champions over the long haul for us.
Business enviornment where the HD is being acsessed pretty much constantly.
Western Digitals have nice stats, but I would go for a smaller (80 gb) Barracuda.
Just my opinion.

Western Digitals = SA-TAN!
Go with something else in that category, or I'll laugh at you.

Go looky here (http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?id=5&category_id=5&srch_type=catg2). I think you'll be able to find something for less dough.
I too was going to build my own. But after going to CompUSA occasionally to check out their new and refurbs, I'd be a fool to build.

About the WD drive, western digital drives have been improving. This thing has 8 MB cache, which is just tasty.
--and Re: bman, if you can find me a machine @ compusa w/ this motherboard... let me know.
the whole idea of serial IDE is just yummy.
the whole idea of dual memory controllers for what could in effect be 2x memory bandwidth... is just yummy.
EA shall now laugh at you.

Just keep an eye on it, I didn't plan on doing your shopping for you. ;) Just trying to save you some cash.
What you intend on building is super nice so don't get me wrong.
But some of it is just for bragging rights. And if you build it, you are in fact going to have one bad-ass comp.
Rock on.
DI.........HAHAHAHAHHAHA! :p

Bleh, go to www.newegg.com
or www.googlegear.com
And build your own. :)
Both have top quality stuff, and it's hard to find a better price!
Not sure if they have premade systems, worth a look... but if you want a premade one and don't find one there, take a look at this site: http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/
Those are some of the best premade systems I've ever seen, and at awesome prices. (Not to mention how they look...)
