My daughter brought a new word with her from school recently.

"Ain't".

Y'all ain't got no critters in the pen but you might understand why the beginning of this sentence makes my skin crawl.

It was a fluke but...

Both kids have been watching Spiderman more times than an adult could stomach. Well, no. I retract that. If it sucked it would be a different story.

The animated sequence after Peter fell ill turned into a science lesson on a whim.

"Look, dad! That's DNA!"

Today, she drew the helix and connected the strands with different colored markers.

It took a couple of repetitions but she correctly said "deoxyribonucleaic acid", looked at her drawing of DNA and then to the screen with a smile of understanding.

"Ain't" ain't so bad after that.

Well she's already doing better than me.

Don't be impressed just yet. If she remembers how to say it tomorrow, then my jaw will drop.

It's probably just a parrot-type thing.

Then again (WOO HOO) maybe not :D

We'll see.

Pbbbbt, if I can still say it, I'm reasonably certain she'll remember how. Just give her time and brain-food, and she will grow. :)

She is a very bright little girl and I can prove it.

She once told me she loved me.

Enough said. ;)
