View Full Version : AWRIGHT, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! (a rant)
But wait.
To enjoy something you also place value in opens you up to suffering at the hands of mediocraty.
You have to live by the standards you set and expect not the exceptions.

opinion, wario. it isn't for anybody to say what music or art or comedy isn't "worthy". i like nirvana, in fact i like them very much. this is partly because of the timing, but i'm not one to get sucked into trends. here's the thing:
-i like nirvana. you say they suck
-you like rush. i say they suck.
there is no rational way to say that you are right and i am wrong.
that whole thing was a chunk of subjective rage based on your heavily biased and irrational opinions of drug use and popular culture.

i don't take things personally, though i realize that it seems like i do sometimes. for future reference, please assume that i am not upset even if it appears otherwise.
i don't disagree that you have the "right" to tell me what you think is worthwhile, but there is no universal standard of art. art is pure subjectivity, completely without objective interpretation. this is an observation based on my own life; art is what you get from it and only that.
your standards in the realm of music are not THE standard. i get things from certain bands or styles or instruments that you do not, and vice versa. i suppose before we can discuss the issue of this standard you'll have to outline your criteria, so i'll stop here to allow you to do that if you so choose.

you're right D..
the world is fucked, people are sheep, not fit to inhabit the planet.. the planet that we got in good shape but aren't planning to return. (who'd want a smelly/dirty/nearly-unfit-to-live-upon place like the earth anyway?)
but what does it matter?? sure apathy is rampant, but why do YOU care D..
humanity wasnt meant for any greatness, we are a virus that spreads anywhere we can, ruining things because we are lazy and ambitious at the same time.
we don't treat each other with any respect and hold wars over trivial things like religious beliefs, ownership of property, skin colour... why are we so deserving of something better than the hell we've cut out for ourselves? we are greedy, lazy, ultimately weak and pathetic beings
why must you insist that we have wandered astray? what makes you think that we could POSSIBLY have done better?
humanity ISNT good... otherwise communism would have functioned properly
i listen to limp bizkit.. their lyrics suck and give bad messages but who cares.. it doesnt matter, its all too late we can't save future generations, we can't even save ourselves as a society. We are lost D.. we will devolve while technology bears the greater burden of our inability to grasp the simplest concepts anymore...
PEOPLE ARE STILL FUCKING ILLITERATE IN THIS DAY AND AGE D... IN FUCKING NORTH AMERICA A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE CAN'T FUCKING READ AND YET THEY STILL MAKE IT THROUGH THE DAY! we dont need to be smart to succeed anymore.
you're just one angry man D.. just one. inciting a riot on here will accomplish nothing, everybody knows that tv is a cesspool of sex and violence. but i watch WWF wrestling whenever i can...
i smoke weed, i drink. Anything to occasionally dull the sinking feeling that i am alone on this ball of dirt that has been forsaken long ago by any god/deity/higher being it may once have held.
it's just a ride now D.. take happiness in your own life.. find someone who doesnt revolt you and spend every last second you can with her before you die what i presume will be a horrible death with the way air/water/food quality is heading
sit the fuck down d.. no need to rock the boat, accept your fate

and this is where i say ignorance is bliss. i do not own a tv that actually picks up any channels whatsoever i do not read the news i do not listen to the radio. i live in my own lil bubble of a world and do as i please and ignore those i dont see fit to be in my life. i love my little world so dont rock my boat :P

[/quote] You're right but only conditionally. You may as well compare an outhouse to indoor plumbing; both are places to shit but one is a leeeetle bit more refined.
I don't mean to turn this into a thread about musical nuances but
"Wheels within wheels in a spiral array" kicks the shit out of "I wish I could eat your cancer when it turns black".
When I hear Nirvana, I think, "that poor, sad fuck. He's better off". Rush's music took me on a journey through a black hole, past death and into a universe torn apart by the gods who ruled there. As an extra added bonus, I learned that:
"We can walk our roads together
If our goals are all the same.
We can run alone and free
If we pursue a different aim."
Nirvana TRIED to teach me that life sucks. Their extra added bonus was a discharged weapon and a mass of scrambled brains.
Although I "like" both groups, I also like taking a leisurely dump in the privacy of my own toilet as opposed to squatting on the side of the interstate in the middle of the night with traffic wizzing by only to find that the heals of my boots and the floormats of my truck have become marred by my attempt to quell my discomfort.
*shrug*
"When the dragons grow too mighty to slay with pen or sword, I grow weary of the battle and the storm I walk toward.
When all around is madness and there's no safe port in view, I long to turn my path homeward to stop a while with you."
I appreciate your opinions.
