I hate flat soda. I hate it with a passion. I think I've solved the problem.
It's so simple, but works so well.
I opened two bottles of soda four days ago, and stored one right-side-up and one upside-down.... the one that was upside down is like new and the other is half-flat.
I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I feel so cool.
STORE YOU SODA UPSIDE-DOWN!

I myself have found a way to solve that problem. Buy the pop in little cans, and then drink the entire can after you open it.

Damn, two posts and already the...........
soda vs pop thing.

However, Venus has the better suggestion but Jules' findings was pretty damn cooj too. Who woulda thunk it?

Venus' is more expensive though... by a lot...
It makes sense, really. Gas is more likely to escape through the part that isn't COMPLETELY sealed than the part that is...

My solution is simple and elegant: If you're not going to drink it immediately, don't open it.

For what's it worth, I buy my soft drinks in 2 liter bottles and I will be placing your findings into action. Thanks for the tip. ;)
jules, you better not be lieing to me
I only buy coke in 2 liter bottles to discolor liquor (unless its already discolored)
12pks are honestly more expensive
consider:
12pk of soda = 12 x 12oz --->144 oz
@~$3.50
144oz / $3.50 ----> 41.14 oz/$
2 liters of soda = 2.1Qts = 67.2 oz
@$1.00
67.2 oz / $1.00 ----> 67.1 oz/$
thats 63% more
but it GOES flat.......

Try it with a bottle or two... worked wonders for me...
and EA. we don't all drink two liters of soda at once. with that logic, my soda would never get opened.

So I've started to get myself out of the habit of drinking soda. I am a serious Pepsiholic and have been since I was a kid. I am down to a 12 oz. can per day. Can I just tell you that it is tougher to kick than beer was? Amazing.
(BTW, I've been using the upside down trick for a long while now. Utahn's buy everything in bulk so that's been a trick we've been on to for a great while. Works great for all kinds of stuff around the house. )
