There's the catalyst.
The rest is free-form.

i blew one up once. with plastic explosives. the hole in the ground was more spectacular than the condition of the car, as we couldn't find it afterwards.

Silly little beetle
Your gear box sticks

I hate them and won't go near one
if der furher wanted you to have a car he'd have given you one...oh yeah..my bad
Volks are wonderful cars IMO ;) my mom has a '96 Jetta with 170k miles on it, and it still works pretty damn good.

You didn't say; "no return" :D
Hmm, thinking back to my high school days.
I worked at a high performance shop after school and on Saturdays. '69 bug.
Engine in rear removed, 9" Ford rear installed, engine compartment sheet metaled in, modified beer keg installed for gas tank, rear seat removed, front seats moved back, custom dash made and 8" extended into passenger compartment, entire front end cut off, installed front end from a '78 mustang II, used transmission and drive shaft hump from same car, nasty lil 289 and C4 tranny installed, custom hood was fabricated, corvette radiator slant idea (worked nice), etc, etc, etc.
End result:
One bad ass 2800 lb bug, completely streetable, ran 6.90's in the eight of a mile on pump gas and all muscle AND it was a show car.
One day, I want to build one similar only with chevy drive train.
Todays bugs, I dig em. But beware, VW manufactures and dealers are evil, and I mean that.

I owned two rabbit deisels a few yrs ago, a sedan and a pickup. Loved em, they were great little autos. Unfortunately the pickup seemed to have a target on the back end - I got rear ended 3 times in a yr with it. Finally sold it to my neighbor for a project car for him for $200.
The sedan died one day, very suddenly, from a blown head gasket (my wife had a lead foot), and the garage wanted more than it was worth to fix it.
I'm gonna buy one of those little pickups again someday, restore it to as new condition.

I saw one yesterday and several thoughts crossed my mind. Those beloved little vehicles are rarely associated with Nazi Germany or as Hitler's brainchild.
For the hell of it, I decided to get a little history lesson. Lo and behold, I came across this (http://www.mvoc.com/vwism/index.html).
I could only shake my head.

That ain't shit compared to Saturn. My cousin had to get warrants served to get the "saturn people" to leave him alone. No shit.
