View Full Version : Weird Nature
Weird Nature (http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/programmes/tv/weird/)
Wanna see, animals on drugs?
Animals that like alcohol and go to 'bars'?
Weird animal partners?
Animals with guns?
Science is stranger than myth.
you know, that site could explain this site (http://www.igorilla.com/gorilla/animal/)
the attacking squirrel is just silly
ie.
A shrimp that kills its prey with a 'wave blast' from it's claw. It's blast is equivilant to a .233 caliber gun. When the blast is created, there's a split second when the combustion from the claw is as hot as the Sun.
Monkeys that steal liquor from local bars, and the lead monkey is chosen by the one who can get the drunkest(and act like an idiot the best). Bee's that collect alcohol and have 'bouncers' at the front door of the hive to beat up bee's(workers) that are too drunk to do their work right.
Dolphins that help coastal fisherman catch fish. They herd the school of fish towards the fishermans nets, and eat the strays. It works out for both ends of the team. And it's not just a coincidence, the dolphins actually help the fisherman by giving them signals to pull in the nets. The most interesting thing is this, the dolphins are free.
Wanna know where the idea of Santa Claus really came from? You would be quite surprised I think.
There's tons of more interesting things about nature. But we're the strangest out of them all. We don't have one natural defensive or preditory system without the use of tools and technology.
[that was all quoted from the show, somewhat]
This is actually a good reason to watch TV. :) Science is stranger than myth.

Our brains are our natural defensive and predatory systems. Animals rely on physical prowess, instinct, camaflogue, etc. to survive. We outhink our prey and predators. We have opposable thumbs and intelligence which allow us to build and use tools. We adapt our enviornment to suit our needs and wants rather than adapting to the enviornment itself. Humans use what nature gave them, just the same as any living thing.
Good call. Now hopefully the women won't start eating us when we mate with them :O I think you think too highly of yourself, human. Lets see ya outsmart a CROCODILE.
