"Modern" politics is an embarassment to humanity. (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/sumersad1.html)
A New Jersey congressional candidate is airing a campaign commercial that uses the image of Beltway Sniper suspect John Allen Muhammad. A gun control commercial produced for Democrat Anne Sumers notes that while her Republican opponent Scott Garrett "shouldn't be blamed for the sniper," Garrett's "positions are the problem." As the 30-second commercial delivers this swipe, an image of a mocked-up newspaper story appears, carrying Muhammad's photo and the headline, "Sniper suspects held; links to N.J. probed." A spokesman for Garrett, who's vying for the House seat of retiring Rep. Marge Roukema, blasted the Sumers ad as a "sickening" attempt to exploit the sniper murders for votes.
This Democrat is trying to get elected on a platform of gun control, and is blaming pro-gun representatives for the sniper ordeal, implying that the gun came from jersey... and that a pro-gun position is what lead to the deaths of so many in and around DC.
First, lets get it out of the way: The weapon that killed those people was not crafted by bushmaster, it was crafted by his mom and pop, it resided in his head, between his ears. It malfunctioned, plain and simple. That little mass of gray matter should perhaps be banned, not firearms. You do not thank a hammer for constructing a house, you do not blame a hammer when you hit your thumb. A gun is just a tool. You have to use, or misuse it, for it to do anything.
Second, the only thing im aware that has been linked to jersey is that he bought the chevy caprice here. So maybe... just maybe we should see to it that no politician with links to automotive companies get elected. --I mean hey, they must be for the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents.
