Go out any buy yourself a Slinky and think of it as a representation of my present to you. Here goes...

When birthdays roll around, most people simply think of the time that has passed. Very few think about the distance they've travelled by remaining stationary. Most of those who do think merely that they've completed yet another circuit around the sun and have ended up where they started.

Fewer still realize that the Earth's path traces a great spiral as it moves through the galaxy.

When you get your Slinky, draw a line from top to bottom (magic marker, favorite color).

Stretch that sucker out and choose a coil to represent your birth. Be sure to leave some room since time didn't begin when you were born.

Count ahead and mark your current age with a different color. Take a guess at your lifespan and mark that in black.

If reality is based on an a persons perspective, and perspective cant be had before life, then for any person there is no reality before life. Now, No reality would also mean no history, no past... so in a manner of speaking, all of time does begin anew with each persons birth. And all we get to know about the pre-reality of our lives are the tales that we hear from those who have been given the oppourtunity to be a part of the shared reality before we got the chance. And we all know how people are want to imbelish the truth for the sake of telling a good story.

Hopefully I worded that in a manner that makes the thought easy to digest, because I had a hard enough time thinking it, let alone sharing the thought.

As a postscript, I'm glad to see a healthy amount of us aries folk here at THT. No wonder I felt at home. happy B-day (belated at this point).</FONT c>
