What is your best advice to give a stranger?

Never ask advice from strangers.

To expand:

A stranger, by definition does not know you. He/she has no experiential basis upon which to evaluate the wisdom/efficacy of your advice, and thus is almost certain to discount it's value to effectively zero.

Why waste your breath?

Back off and go away.

I shy away from giving advice to strangers. I lean more towards giving advice to friends but only when they ask for it. If a stranger listens in, so be it.

I'm inclined to sit with the stranger and listen to their story first. How I respond depends on the situation.

I'm kinda going with Kol on this one. Although I will give advice to any and every. (I don't discriminate) But at the same time, if in fact it is a stranger telling a story and wanting my input, it may very well be just my opinion on the matter as opposed to actual advice.

i usually tell a stranger to take their own advice.

most people tell you exactly what they want to hear you say when they ask you for advice- they'll either come right out and say it..."so do you think i should....", or they'll give it away in the words and description they choose, and their manner when speaking of their problems.

most of the time, people just like to feel better about a decision they've already made rather than listen to your opinion.

of course, that's just my opinion. ;)

Advice:

Wise men don't need it.

Fools won't heed it.
