I noticed something odd recently.
Orange juice sometimes comes in gallon containers. The containers have "sell-by" or "expiration" dates.
I noticed a batch, 4 rows wide, with expiration dates of September 11.
One row was empty. I can only assume that people searched to the back of the cooler for other dates.
Question:
Do you shy away from buying products with a September 11 expiration date?

Most definately.
I don't want a re-enactment of WTC in my refrigerator.
Because we all know that the yogurt cups and orange juice bottles are bombs that have been placed in our supermarkets by the Taliban.

People need to stop being so paranoid.

I'm thinking that if I were in the plant, I would have given the expiration date a click forward to "Sept. 10" just in case. People are historically supersticious and that is a gamble I wouln't want to take with my products.

For most people Sept. 11 will come each and every year. It may be a day now for remembrance but not celebration.
Stop being paranoid people!
And to answer your question Kol: No.

You know, maybe we shouldn't dial 9-1-1 anymore. It might be bad luck.
And everyone born on 9/11 should be lined up and shot. Just to be safe.
Superstition sucks :p

Quite a few views of this poll and only 12 votes. Only one is a "yes".
I made a small effort to look at that same cooler of juice yesterday. Once again, third row from the left was wiped out while all of the Sept 11 containers wait for someone to take them home.
So, either we're a special minority or the "yes" voters run away in shame instead of standing up in front of a crowd to proclaim, "Hi, my name is ________ and I'm superstitious."
I think I'll experiment. A few American Flag stickers under the expiration date?
I'll pick a store at random.

Well, I've never really thought about it, but now that I do...no it wouldn't bother me. Why should I go around fearing anything that happens to have 9 and 11 next to each other. It's all stupid. In fact, the next time I buy something with an experation date...it's gonna be 9/11.

when i woke up on september 11 i had no idea what the date was until somebody told me. all i knew was something really horrible was happening and i was huge pregnant at the time, so the hormones were really racing and i was in tears for about 5 hours. although the significance of the date is very real (911) i think its one of those things much of the public might have missed if the media hadnt latched onto it. i dont refer to the events of that day as the 9/11th bombings, or to the day as 9/11. i call it the day the wtc got bombed, just like we dont call good friday "two days before easter" or memorial day "first monday in june". we dont refer to the attack on pearl harbor as a date, and it was horrible to the people of this country at that time. perhaps people do this because they still cant vocalize what actually happened in conversation. they cant say terrorists took over our planes and lots of innocent people died.
say it with me folks, "we were attacked, and we never saw it coming."
its ok. happens to everybody.
well know next time.
