DiCaprio calls on Bush to `Go Green,' attend Earth Summit

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Leonardo DiCaprio, calling the United States the world's biggest polluter, urged President Bush to make a statement in favor of the environment by attending the Earth Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, later this month.
"Mr. Bush, we're asking for your support, to be the president that looks towards the future," DiCaprio told a Monday rally organized by Global Green USA, an affiliate of Green Cross International.
So far Bush hasn't said whether he'll join some 100 word leaders, including British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Mexican President Vicente Fox and French President Jacques Chirac, at the summit.
DiCaprio also complained that the Bush administration has opted out of the Kyoto Protocol, an international climate treaty with mandatory controls for industry "despite the fact that we are the biggest economy and the biggest polluter."
White House environmental experts have complained that the agreement would cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars and millions of jobs.

So I was on my way to complete fabrication and initial testing of my new machine, which is going to make seperator internals for removing water from oil and gas when I realised it was break time and I turned right around and sat down to read some more news...well, thank GOD I did.
Because little did I know, I am helping to fuel the largest pollution machine in the world (The U.S.A.)
Jesus, I LOVE nature and the the environment and I actually have hugged trees (it sorta makes you feel good to know that wild hogs can't climb them) so why in the name of the green party would I want to lend myself to the detruction of the planet?
Praise Allah for Leonardo Di`Capuccino and his earth conscious politically aware, tax$$$$$$$motivated, federally regulated gov't program ideology.
...or I might have kept on ruining this beautiful blue ball we call home.
Come on Mr Bush, go to south africa and help to clean up the world like the actor says.
the real question:
Why does the media give a flying fuck what MR Hollywood-overpopulated-SUV-driving-suddenly-liberal-environmentalist says? And better yet..why should we?
What would you think of your president if he decided that because a group of actors has spoke out that he should jump to their wishes?
This is a GOOD e-mail topic.
