WOOF! (http://www.exploratorium.edu/marsrover/)

The scientists and engineers tasked to control this robotic prototype have been kept in the dark on purpose.

In order to control a robotic vehicle on an area of Mars that has only been mapped by satellite, mission planners and controllers will take a prototype rover into the desert, turn over control to the guidance team and watch.

You can, too via live webcast.

Interesting music.

It's a shame the webcast was fraught with technical issues and improvised content...I kinda expected more. :(

Yes, the music was wonderful...

what was it you said EA? "Sounds like they stuck a subwoofer up a elephant's ass and got a mariachi band"?

:D

But, seriously, even though I kinda would've like to see more desert stuff, it was pretty cool to watch. I'll probably have to read up on it some more now.

Not in this thread :D

Ok, now I need to see it.

Aside from the way it was put together and the physical attributes of the participants, did it bomb of fly(roll)?

Success or failure?

Well, the rover was operational and such...they had it going in the desert but you'd barely know from the amount of footage they had - actually seeing the damn thing was the exception rather than the rule. Expect most of the program to be comprised of interviews with some of the leading scientists and a basic overview of the program and rovers.
