Out buddy Ted Turner gave the UN a Billion dollars out of his own pocket. I am sure there are side benefits but his aim was to legitimize the UN's existence. "Look if I am willing to give them a billion dollars you can at least trust them". He is a rabid environmentalist. He supports UN control of the world. He wants the UN to enforce regulations first starting with greenhouse gasses to prevent "Global Warming(TM)". Then to protect the rain forests then old growth forests then endangered species then gun control then then then.....
Ted Turner would love nothing better than to have UN troops standing on the corner of every block checking your papers and making sure you aren't doing any thing that is not "Authorized".
