It sucks. The air itself stinks. The sewers were meant for a population of maybe 3 million and the city now has around 17 million. It just doesn't quit work...

The smog on most days cuts visibility down to about 300 yards.

Not even the locals drink the tap water. On most occassions it smells like raw sewage and on the other days it smells like dead fish.

Just walking around is a chore for the lack of air. The air is grainy for want of a better description. There is a metallic dust over everything. And that is just pollution. Sometimes it is hard to even open your eyes outside for all the stuff flying in the air. It is pretty bad when about every 5th person you meet walking around has some sort of breathing mask on.

Then the crowds... with a population of 17 million in a land area just a bit larger give or take than Tyler, Texas... talk about over crowding. It is ridiculas. The traffic od terrible and not even 1 person out of 1 or 2000 has any type of vehicle. Picture this- 3 lanes of traffic, seperate directions of traffic, having the same green light to merge to go the same direction. For those who have been to Tyler, picture the south loop and south broadway intersection and just imagine the east and west loop traffic and the south bound broadway traffic having the same green light at the same time all merging to go south on broadway... clusterfuck doesn't even begin to describe it.

Then you get into the pedestrian traffic trying to weave in and out of the car traffic... ARRGGG!!!!!!!!!!! That and wherever I go, cars and people stop to stare at me.

I have been hit by 2 little scooters so far but for the most part cars stop for me. Probably because I am bigger than teh cars are. And weigh more too.

Like I have been saying...

How's the food?

What is their alcoholic drink of choice?

Do they have a bad illegal drug problem?

Do you plan to study any martial arts while you are there?

The food sucks unless you like stuff spicy enough to take paint off a tarmack. I almost stabbed a guy the other day when he took me out to dinner. He said "It's not that spicy." And yes, I almost stabbed as I have said. To round out the irony of the situation I almost stabbed him with the chopsticks.

Alcoholic drink of choice is either beer or something called soju. The beer tastes about tha same as in the US. As for soju I have no diea. It is some sort of rice whiskey. Supposedly makes people psycho... so look out once I get started.

Drug problem? I have yet to see it if there is one.

I have thought about ti chi or whatver, maybe something. But, I doubt it. I don't really have a whole lot of free time. I have mornings- which I am usually alseep- then I teach till dark. Then I try to relax from being around kids all day. Oh well...
