I have central air.
EA does not.
Never let it be said that EA is the game. Truely, he is not.

I have a woman. You don't.
Oh, the cars have a/c too.
I am the game. If not wholly the game, I can at least take satisfaction in being better than j00. :D
<hr>
Fagmahnn - I get haircut soon, yes.
Muffy,
I'm not being critical or anything but that pic of you is AWFULLY orange. :(
I have no clue about NZ skin tones but here's what I did:

Any guy can have A woman (although I still question the gender of this "Phil" person you speak of), but only THE GAME (aka, Mudflap) is man enough to hold out for THE WOMAN.

The cars? Which ones do you hold the title to? Which ones can your parents not restrict you from driving? Hmmm....not looking good for the game wannabe.

Feh. You're not holding out, that much I know. That would be like saying "I'm waiting for a better Ferrari to come out before I buy one" and begging for money the next minute, an act you're more than familiar with. (P.S. You owe me $20, fucker.)

I can drive either if I want to. :)

And what exactly qualifies YOU to be the game, my Mongolian assmaster? :p

cheers Mac - I did say it was a crap pic. The photo itself is that orange, but my scanner makes everything liney and blurry :( - it never used to, I'm not sure what is going on. I want a webcam damnit! (Although the original did make me like nice and tanned :D)

Try this if you haven't already:
Unplug the whole thing (power supply and USB) from the back of the scanner. Leave it be for 30 minutes or so. Plug it all back up and try it again.
I had a similar problem a while back, the uplugging thing worked for me. :)
And "bad" pic "good" pic doesn't matter. You're still a good looking woman. ;)

Seriously - how come GA is glowing? And why does Kayla's face always look so white? Can you change how much light you let in to a webcam like you would with a real camera? I'm curious, I'm thinking about getting a digital camera, but I already have a $2000.00 real camera, so I'm not sure whether to get a crap one for messing around with, or hold out and get a good one for doing 'real' photography....? So, I guess I want to know, can you use digital cameras to get special lighting and motion effects?

..........very easy to create such effects with software.
I bought a program called Cosmopolitan Visual Metamorphosis two years ago because it came with a cheesy digital camera that looked like it came free with a packet of cornflakes.
One out of 50 of the photos actually worked, but what the hey, it wasn't costing. I also had weeks of fun learning about graphics changing peoples hairstyles with the program.
I bought a real digital camera this month and for about 900 NZ, after two years of waiting for prices to come down.
It came with a Photoshop 5, as in the term photoshopped, the standard for image manipulation, web-wise and graphics wise. That was a very pleasant surprise.
Photoshop 7 has just been released and would set you back over 2000 NZ, and is a lot heavier on your processer, i.e. takes a long time to open up etc.
Although digital cameras do have a lot of features, it is in my opinion better to concentrate on getting a good photo and then manipulating it. You can always go back to the original if you create an effect you don't like.
Kayla could give you tips on the Gimp, which is an open source, i.e. free, image manipulator.
If I was you I'd try getting a really cheap and nasty digital camera to play with for the moment as prices are still falling at a tremendous rate.

Edit: I forgot about webcams, they're cheap as fuck at the mo, probably pick one up for less than a hundred bucks and be able to make a photo of a relevantly decent quality.
Dammit pushed the quote button instead of the edit button.

Cheers skalie... so, does that mean that you do the manipulation after you have taken the photo, and that you don't have light metre and appature functions like you do on a normal cam?

i make my pics like that on purpose most of the time. mostly because i like the blue/white look i get. kinda cool
Muffy, the better the pic you start with the less you have to jack with it.
The real trick to digital (in my limited experience) is the resolution of the original pic.
This is measured in megapixels.
Thus ends my knowledge.
The camera I take all my pics with is a very simple one with less than 1 mega pixel.
It cost $350 at walmart.
For around $900 you can get to almost 5 mega pixel.
Mine is good for 400x600 resolution shots and thats about it on a good day.
But I walk right up to things smaller than a house in natural light and take pics of them. so thats all I need.....
Consider what exactly you want to photograph and what quality you expect from it.
Then get you $$$ ready.
That canon D60 is like $2000 with one lens.......

If you want the high resolution you have to pay more money, combine that with a good lense, and a good optical zoom, you're looking at megabucks. Combine that with getting something that fits in the palm of your hand and it would probably be worth a trip to Japan to get a good deal.
Mac hit it on the head with the start with a good picture first, it could be compared to trying to make good a bad sound recording, difficult. Megapixels are handy for the fact that you can crop what you want out of a photo without losing quality.
You do have light meter and aperture functions on a digital, but that goes over my head. It took me a while to get used the easy mode technique, you have to hold the shutter button half down, and wait while the camera works out if it needs a flash, and focuses, and then you get the green light and take the photo, then wait six seconds while it records and reloads before reshooting.
That's in automatic mode, one button is enough for me. There is a manual mode, but I can't see slowing down the process to have any advantage unless your taking studio photos on a tripod, and as said before image manipulation by computer is really advanced these days.
There are other modes for taking loads of smaller resolution photos after one another and stuff, but that would involve reading the instuctions.
Here's the thread from the asylum from when I was up all night wondering if I was doing the right thing (I still haven't been able to pay any rent since then, but I got some great photos).

Edit: Afterthought, definately go for the cheapest pile of shit that you can find, if you are used to the results that you get from a 2000 buck camera anything midrange digital wise is only probably going to annoy you, lense and zoom wise.
Also once a photo has been through a scanner, it's officially digital, and can be played around with just as much as anything from a digi-camera.
