Old Reliable's monitor got zapped by lightning last night. I've only just begun to connect the new system to the net.

I'm jumping from OS '98 to XP Pro by walking 2 meters. Dialup sucks so I'm working on installing beta drivers for the DSL modem.

Hmmm. Hardship breeds motivation....

I may use that as an analogy sometime ;)

I'll be around but I'm pretty occupied ATM.

Seems mother nature really doesn't like you...

I love her anyway. If she keeps this up, though, I may have to take it out on some baby seals and a whale or two.

I had a 50/50 chance on picking the right driver. Guess which one I chose.

Trying again...

Round my parts they sell lightning proof/ surge proof power distributating box things for next to nothing.

I haven't got one myself, but then again with the strength of my moral fiber a lightning strike is out of the question.

Heh, I would love to see one, just one surge protector that could withstand a bolt of lightning. I haven't been convinced such a thing exists. Especially when I've seen lightning knock receptacles clean out of walls and heard of people getting zapped using a portable phone and the lightning jumping across the room to get em.

Surge protector my ass.
