Once again, i must apologize if this is a repeat thread, i havent been able to read EVERY post.

What do you think of Jon Edward. FOr those of you who havent heard of him (doubtful) He supposedly can communicate with the dead. He has his own show on the SciFi channel where he has a studio audience of i'd say about 150 people. He says that sprits contact him and give messages to their loved ones. I've watched the show quite a few times. I am very skeptical but the proof is in the pudding. I don't think the audience is being paid. They are all too emotional and serious about their readings. But I really dont think i could accuratly judge without having it happen to myself. Tog et a one on one session with him it is 500$ and there is NO guarentee that your loved one will connect with him. What do you think? Is it real, fake? Would you do it if given the opportunity? Have you ever had a spritual guide contact the dead for you etc?

Those things are always faked.

This person just has a good intuition and is observant. Hysteria is involved. Watching someone have an emotional experience makes it much easier to have one yourself.

There has always been this type of show. The Mighty Kreskin I believe was the most famous. Johnny Carson's "Swamie" character was a parody of the Mighty Kreskin.

It is very easy to be fooled by these people. If he could truly speak to the dead he would be a quiet Billionaire instead of charging poor desperate people $500 a head.

If I were dead (which hasn't been a problem as of yet) I doubt that I would want to end up on the set of a crappy Sci-Fi show telling my aunts and uncles that I still don't like them.
But if they had a good buffet table in the green room I'd debate it.

Im surprised you all feel that way. Although I agree it's kind of a nice thought. I agree with RogueWarrior..once your dead...thats it, the end all and be all.

Here's some of that tree-hugging hippie crap RW has been talking about.

Patience. This thought will follow me to sleep.

I can't remember where I first hear this but it makes sense to me. Your freedom allows you to ditch my opinions whenever you wish.

I was once told that there is a wind that blows across everything we can see or feel.

Our bodies catch that wind and play a song that starts when we are born.

Even if the instrument is taken away, the wind remains.

You know more than you realize.

Honestly, I think the show is fascinating...what makes me a "conservative believer" is the dynamics of the whole thing. Yes, people can be planted and you can play on their emotions but the thing about it that sucks me in is the way that he (Edwards) sticks to one person who has no idea what he's talking about and suddenly they "get it"...its almost freaky. In another episode that I saw, the "spirit" or whatever, led him to the back of the room...what was actually happening was that Edwards was being led outside of the studio to one of the parking attendants because his brother had a message for him.

I know this sounds hokey...and I'm not really that naive, as a matter of fact, I will not go to a psychic, palm reader, fortune teller, medium (etc) because of the fact that I won't allow some con (wo)man to play on my emotions.

I'll watch it on TV though...

I know an old man who only talks about what's going on right now, today.
One day he told me a cool story about his how his life turn him down the path he took.
I was so impressed I went right home and told it to my dad.
I finished with: "How come he doesn't tell more storys about his life? He has done some seriously cool shit."

And my father said:
"Because most people have no reference point. You didn't experience it or live it. And you realy don't comprehend it as real except for the story you heard."

Well being dead must be like that.
I have no reference for existing without a body. I can't imagine my influence on the rest of the universe except as a guy who rubs his toes in the grass and wishes for another beer.
