I could be wrong here but Greenspan has only recently been made a Widely publicised figure. The TV gave him to Millions of Americans and now they want to take him away.
If the rate cuts before supposedly helped the market why did it go back down?
Now I don't rush out and buy stock just because some public figure tells me to.
Unfortunately a lot of people do.
I would bet a dollar that a whole bunch of people are waiting for their Piddly little tiny retroactive Tax cut.......
Those people can hold their breath and call me when their SATISFIED.
Then they can tell me about all the things they DESERVE.

I believe the impression you have of Greenspan is accurate. He is an honest man whom has done a great deal for this country. I think he is being forced to make bad decisions due to the stock market mania and the Clinton legacy. The stock market is being driven by emotion and he has to make moves to keep the peace even if it is the wrong thing to do physically. If he pulled the rug we would spiral into a depression. He so far has limited it to a recession. The recession isn't his fault. The slowdown in the economy is from overtaxation and environmental regulations of the past eight years.

Woof.
If it's so sick, why are you laughing?
