I just got my first tattoo, and it was well worth it.

Only thing is, these things are addictive, I just might have to get another. :D

I don't have anything against tattoos. I just don't see myself getting one. I think that the rebelious nature of them is a thing of the past. More and more, I consider myself less mainstream by not getting one. It seems that anywhere I look, there's a dolphin on an ankle, a rose on an asscheek, etc. I just don't think it's fitting for me.

I have a hard time seeing why someone would get a generic tattoo like the forementioned dolphin, rose, etc. I would have to have something that had a serious personal meaning to me to have it branded on my body for life.

Oh, and for all those people with shit like "Fuck You" and other various types of artwork on your forehead or that are visible at all times: Don't get pissed that I won't hire you. It's nothing personal, but you're an idiot.

( I must say that tats that can be covered are okay and I actually like to see them. )

I don't really have anything important enough to say that I would have it branded permanently on my body - plus, gravity and all, these things can get awfully distorted. I would imagine that a women with a rose tattoo on her breast may find that in her 60s she ends up with a wrinkly grapevine crawling down her chest. Eww.

I have a little, and I mean LITTLE, daisy on the inside of my right ankle.

Its meaningful now, and thats why I keep it. At the time I got it (15) it was just to get something I think. People are so dumb when they are young.

What sort of work do you offer for people without visible tattoes, i.e. non-idiots?

Not to throw the thread off course, but I work for Home Depot. Generally, 95% of my employee's jobs are dealing with the public. We are pretty conservative about things like dress, piercings and tattoos. I was actually suprised that they allow men to wear long hair. Maybe the status-quo is changing a bit.

I have 4
my first was a rose on my right shoulder blade. ( a birthday present from my girlfriends at college)
My second was a butterfly on the top of my foot. ( a present from a guy that took me on a date once)
The third a banner that says "Endless Love" in memory of my Best friend that was killed. ( a marker on myself for memories of how much she means to me, the artist gave it to me for free)
The 4th, a night scene with a moon and some stars and clouds on the small of my back. ( a gift from my best friends mother, to thank me for all the loyalty to her and to their family) .

All of these in a matter of 8 months.

then a month later a tongue ring
then a year and a half ago, one through my right nipple.

the piercings can come out, but the tattoos are there to stay. So whatever you got, i hope it is something you prepare to live with. And Kaye, i was huge when I was pregnant, and it didn't destroy any of mine, even when my feet were like 4 times the normal size due to a kidney malfunction. So it doesn't always mess it up. :)

But I have to say i thought about the same thing before, I have large breast, and wanted to get tweetie bird tattoo'd on one of them, but right before he started to do it, I thought wait a minute, in 25 years It will look like big bird and I'll have to go back and have more feathers added, so I decided not to do it. I am still thinking of going back and getting one, not sweetie bird, but some type of tribal art that wraps around it and ends at the nipple, just because I like that type of thing. ( ya would never really know the things I like if you saw me on a everyday basis like at work or something... lol ) So what it theTat of Disturbed?

Got PIcs?

Jojo (my g/f) has an obsession with the moon and stars thing. She wanted a tatoo and couldn't find anything she liked, so I designed her one. The tatoo is located in the "small" of her back.

My feelings are hurt. You mean to tell me that you wouldn't like my big bleeding heart that says "MOM" on my upper arm?

*runs off crying over dramatically*

I have always been moved by tribal art.

I got a tribal sun on my right arm.

i think tattoo's are generally a mistake (i have one :) )

i'm pleased with mine, have no problems with it at all, i'm glad i have it even, i'd go so far as to say i wouldn't remove it if i had the chance to do it pain and cost free

but when i have to talk down my 16 year old coworker from getting a matching set of grim reapers on his forearms.. it makes me realize that people don't always think these things through

tips for tattoos (in ga's opinion):

don't get anything out of a book they have there already, because it doesn't mean shit to you and really dilutes the value of it

get it where it can EASILY be covered

think about it first, for a month, more, a year... don't get one in the spur of the moment

don't buy into the addictive nature thing too quickly... plan out ALL of your tattoos... not just the first one

I want a tat. I want to get a little wrist band or something. But I'm not very graphicly inclined. It would have to be something I made ,something , orriginal. :\

That's why i havn't gotten one yet.

I got my 1st when I was 21. I got my 2nd when I was 30. Both are covered by every day casual wear. Both are meaningful to me.

One of them is my avatar, slightly modified.

No plans for anymore at this point.
