Ok...

I have the opportunity to teach Conversational English in South Korea.

I can almost see the eyes collectivly opening wide.

Simple question, should I or shouldn't I?

The pay is rather well, $2500 to $3000 a month, with an apartment provided.

5 to 10 students per class.

With each and every student having at least 6 years of English. Thus they already know the language. I will be teaching them Conversational English. The vernaculer per se.

2 or 3 weeks paid vacation a year.

Airfare there and back provided.

I have the choice of the age group to teach, Kindergarden thru adults. And yes, I have chosen adults.

I have to sign a 1 year contract of service. If I like I can renew for another year till whenever I choose to leave. Or, if I don't want to renew, I come home and job hunt again.

I have reservations, but, this will definately pad my resume.

Give me yer thoughts people.

I hear opportunity knocking...

It doesn't seem like you'll be in any bad areas...

Jump on that shit. How often does something like this come along?

Tons of my friends are doing this, and they say its great.

free tip-

A few of them have had problems with accomodation etc not being the same as what was offered -

Get stroppy, they might try to dick you, but come around pretty fast when they see you will make a fuss about it.

Call me an unlettered hick, but what the hell is "stroppy"?

i had a friend go to japan for that

she said the only problems were lonliness, feeling like an outsider, and the fact that the cost of living was very high there

it was a positive experience for her though

just my two cents

(note, that was JAPAN and not SOUTH KOREA that i have any sort of information on.. tx ;) )

I say do it. If nothing else, there might be some misadventures in it for you to share.:D

You're a damned fool if you don't!

What you got to lose? You're already broke, as long as you get a round trip ticket out of them you should be fine, even if they renege on your deal.

Exceptional pay, an apartment you don't have to pay for, the ability to travel, paid vacation time...you'd be stupid not to!

Go for it! :)

Go for it, and if you can get me a job, starting June/July, go for it and give me a call, mano. Im serious. That sounds like a good job.

I dunno, man. You have a tendancy to get bashed in the noggin. Then again, you're not brain damaged.

I say go but conditionally. You have to be able to come here and tell stories.

Hey, I have myself to think about ;)

Hmmm, seems to be an overwhelming "Go for it." Okie dokie... I will think about it. lol

And rest assured, wherever I go, there will be misadventures along the way. I will probably get bored one weekend and make a drive to North Korea with my camera and some stolen sound monitoring equipment... hehe

Or, I will ... uhh... nevermind. Nunya bidness.

Dont worry about those whorehouses. You only go there in a full NBC suit, mano, unless you want to catch all the diseases under the sun.
