WTF??? PC?

The following is an extract from a News Paper article I just read:

PLAY DOUGH PASSES TEST

Play dough passes the coutural safety test at Otago playcentres, but other food products do not, the president of the Otago Playcentre Federation, Imogen Coxhead, says.

Mrs Coxhead said dshe was aware some centres around New Zealand would not use play dough.

However, Otago Maoria seemed to have no objection to play dough, she said.

Other items traditionally used in play by preshoolers like potatoes for potato paints and pasta for collages were not used.

"It's all part of our coummitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, we are to take our commitment to bi-culturalism very seriously", she said.

Could someone please explain to me how the hell a potato is less PC than play dough... maybe my maori blood is blinding me to you white peoples stereotypes?
