Asmodeus

Was I missed? Thought of? Dreamt about? Cursed for being where I was? Cursed for being who I am? Hmmm, not sure if I really want to know the answers to those...
Hmmm, slightly different look RW... "We fear change.", as Garth would say. But this is severely not bad.
Anyway, to those who have no idea who I am, I am Asmodeus. Who also has been in Angel Fire New Mexico for the past long time working at a ski resort and yes, freezing my ass off and no, not having a real good time.
I went up there for a working vacation- to learn how to ski, try my hand at snowboarding, play with some snowbunnies... you get the drill. But, when I was working I had no time to ski or do much else but try to get a few hours of sleep before I had to be back at work again. Then, wonder of wonders for those who know me personally, I got meself hurt. I did an ouchy. Several of them actually.
Hmm, guess I will do sorta chronologically:
Arrived and started working doing snowmaking(note: very cold, walking up and down mountains, very very very thin air and wet all the time)
1. caught pneumonia, missed about 2 weeks or so of work
2. went back to work for a few days, got paid, went out and bought all sorts of cold weather gear so that wouldn't happen again. Came back and was tranfered to the plant, where it is 95 degrees when everything is running. There went several hundred dollars of gear... oh well.
3. Worked in the plant a while(and I have a degree in history and english???)... then had to run outside to release the air pressure(almost blew the place up) and I slipped on a patch of ice. My knee went the wrong way(sideways) and twisted. Tore some stuff up that is necessary for painless and free locomotion. AKA: hurts like a son of a bitch!
4. I kept working. I didn't know how bad it was torn so I kept plugging away. Well, about a week went by and the knee kept getting worse, so I finally filled an accident report on it and gave it to my boss. He wasn't happy about it but not much he could do.
5. Well, about 7 hours later- note 7 HOURS LATER- a 3'x3' cast iron grate fell off the catwalk and nailed me right smack dab in the top of the head. The durn thing weighed about 50lbs and fell around 4 or 5 feet. It had a center metal strip for support when walked on... well, that center strip is what caught me first. It layed me open about 4", right to the skull. And yes, that hurt too. Didn't knock me out but it sure did make my butt pucker, head pound and gave me a sore neck for over a week. And I was dizzy as hell for about a week after that too. The grate part of the thing left it's marks as well. I had gaps in my hair for a while till I got the nerve up to shave my head(I did this for a few reasons- 1. cover up the gaps in my hair. 2. get the hair out of the way so I could doctor the cuts). And that hurt as well...
6. Well, I HAD to go to the emergency room after that. Doc told me not to work for a week because of the head.
7. Week goes by and I finally got an appointment with an orthopedist for my knee. I go to him and he tells me I can't work till furter notice. So... vacation with no money. Fun fun...
8. A month goes by, then a few more weeks... and I say to hell with it, quit, came home to schedual surgery cause Worker's Comp wasn't doing shit about it.
Note: hurt knee on Dec. 24(nice Christmas present), hurt the head Jan 4... so far winter has not been very good to me.
Anyway, that is what I have been doing... anyone care to trade lives for a while? Oh... in case you are wondering, everytime I get to life #8 on my 9 lives, I hit the reset button. Otherwise I would have been out of here probably 20 years ago.
