I'm reserving a spot here to get a few of my cobwebs cleaned out. With any luck, I'll crank out some stuff that will get the ball rolling, so to speak (thanks again, Bitch).

Witness


The sight of it cast a thousand spells on my mind. My eyes still refuse to agree with what my brain tells me is so. I know the truth. I am the only one who does.

Two days ago, I learned that a celestial event would light the sky as none other before it. Although I couldn't understand the reasons attributed to the frantic scurrying of my fellows, the urgency of what I have just seen has now crystalized my perspective in ways no one before me could grasp. I simultaneously thank and curse whatever power that gave me life.

Before the event brings about my end, I will attempt to document the moments that have brought me to the brink of oblivion. I haven't enough time to explain the circumstances that lead up to this day. I'm not even sure that my message will transmit through the chaos above. I can only hope that someone will receive it.

From what I've been taught, the Terratic planned this day long before I was born. My parents were kind enough to filter the horrors of it's reign into stories fit for the mind of a child. As I watch the sky shift and churn, I wish that I could send a message back in time to tell my elders that their fairy tales did more harm than good.

The Terratic had no true beginning, leader or defined purpose. At best, they can be described as "normal". A few of their enlightened ones contrived a plan to create my Nest. I recall something about "eggs" and "baskets" but the connection has been lost over time.

The familiar, stationary stars have company. I must make this short.

When the word came down that Earth was in the final stage, most of us retreated. Our resultant delta-V was a concern for a few minutes before we realized that our calculations and multiple-sided banter wouldn't matter much..

A large segment is headed directly for me. As it rotated through sunlight, I thought I recognized a group of pyramids.


My tears well up in my helmet. When I open it, the salt of my being will splash on the dust of my Luna.

"Witness" was a mental enema. My dreams are difficult to describe in detail. When I've tried, I seem to end up trying to write more details than I can handle. I can see how writing Shorts will be good therapy.

An idea described with a beginning, middle and end. I can fill in details later if I so desire.

In this case, I had a dream about the world ending. One person had the courage to watch. His/her knowledge in those last few moments was a sudden realization of every event that lead to the destruction of two planets (Luna included). For this person, Luna was home. The term "Terratic" is coined from a combination of "heretic", "lunatic" and the obvious reference to Earth and us.

The cobwebs have been cleared. I owe you all my sanity. I hope you don't mind if I make payments as I can afford them http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/wink.gif
