AMERICAN DREAM I

Love and patience
Sweet and kind words
Waking each morning
To chirping song birds
Driving to work
Coming home to your wife
Thinking each night
"What a wonderful life."
Going to school
Getting straight A's
Going to work
Getting good pay
You don't ever worry
It's a trouble free town
Everyone smiles
There's never a frown
Things are just perfect
Well that's how it seems
One persons view
Of the American Dream

AMERICAN DREAM II

Hatred and scorn
Blood sweat and tears
Waking each morning
To a world full of fear
Walking outside
A treacherous feat
Chances are good
You'll be killed on the street
Shot right down
Your killed out of hate
No one can help you
The cops got there too late
Working for pennies
Minimum wage
You don't have a chance
No matter your age
You won't make it anywhere
That's how it seems
Here is your piece
Of the American Dream

from what i've read here so far. My poetry pales in comparison, but enjoy.
