View Full Version : Linux gurus, HELP ME!!!

I repartitioned my harddrive, so I could dualboot with Windows 98 and Linux, but every time I go to install Linux, when it asks me what I want to install (workstation, server, etc), I get an error message saying that "no device could be found to support a new filesystem." First of all, what is it not detecting, and how can I fix it??

What did you use to repartition the drive? Did you specify ext2 for the Linux partitions? What distribution are you trying to install? I am guessing that the reaons it is saying what it is saying is because they are still Fat partitions and its an old distro but I need the oinfo to give you a proper answer

I'm trying to install Red Hat v.7.0, and I used fdisk to repartition the drive, if that helps. I didn't specify anything...just followed the commands on the screen...left 7 gigs for Linux, so it has enough room...

OK, use Disk Druid (the RH Tool) and create some EXT2 fiolesyatems in the spare space the try to install again. If necessary you might have to install RH in text mode
