My room is aswash in a red glow.

That is mainly due to the red tapestry hanging in my window. Every day, when I wake, I am greeted to the warm light. It makes me think of fire, of transformations. That part of what fire does. It transforms what was the fuel, into heat, light, energy.

I wish I could take that fire that it reminds me of, and internalize it. You see, I had a huge pyre inside me years ago. Life saw fit to douse it every now and again. now the once raging inferno is little more than a pile of stubborn coals, doing the only thing they know how to. Smoldering.

People who get paid to study these things say that colors affect moods. That's why a lot of schools and jails have greenish walls. suppossed to keep the patrons calm. Schools and jails.... that's funny, Both are meant to teach, and both are structured in much the same way.

Ok, back to Red. It also happens to be one of my most liked colors. To me, it has strentgh. Conviction. It is not afraid to be bold in comparison ot some other colors, like blue. Blue is nice as well, but it isn't red. Blue is pastoral. Laid back. Happy to let things be as they are.

Red wants your attention, deamnds it. it says " Look at me, feel me, I dare you not to." Maybe that is very telling of my own personality. Back in the time that I had this fire, I was a bold, aroogant person. To not pay me mind was to defy a force of nature. And we all know that you cant ignore nature and her needs.

Hell, I dont even know why I'm taking the time to type all of this. Just wanting to get it out. Maybe there is a bit of the old flame that wells up now and then, and this is just the exhaust from the combustion.

Still, it makes me wonder just what the fuel is, and how much of it I have left to me.
