Thinking about starting a REAL political action website

So, I'm thinking my website sucks. And, I would like to go in with some people in an actual, functioning political action website.

Any takers?

I was thinking possibly www.politicalamerican.org (http://www.politicalamerican.org) or something along those lines.

Not to criticize your hard work Rogue, I enjoy your site, but I don't think it really has much political information. Yeah, there are some cool people here with great ideas, but it stops there. It's never developed into anything, and that's something I would like to do.

I have so much I want to accomplish, but so little time.

Er apologies, I forgot where I was there for a second. I was battling with geocities etc., and was caught unawares seeing something actually posted.

Speaking of topics, I'm from the 'It doesn't matter who you vote for the government always gets in' school of thought. So you wont get me delving deeply into political issues. I used to toy with so-called 'anarchy', but I met too many 'so-called anarchists' to take it seriously.

I have voted twice in my life, once to try and get my local area wet, it was a dry area, meaning no bars or bottle stores, and once to stop the local government destroying my town center to build an underground car-park. Local issues both times, then again I'm a small town boy.

Maybe you could ask the rapist a few political q's, he/she's been sitting tight for two weeks now with nothing to wax lyrical about.

So many questions, so little time...

When I asked for people to go in on this, I was asking for content help, design, and if they felt like it, financial aid as well. Because it really doesn't cost that much to run a site.

RW, I don't know what your site was originally like. I think this place is more or less like a happy (mostly) group of people, who seem to know each other from other forums. I never really saw it as a site for randome people to visit and become aware of things. Hell, I haven't really read any articles on anything.

I like this place because most people have well though out, well educated responses.

Now, I don't know for sure what I would do. The only thing would be to educate in some way or another. Make it navigatable, with essays, how-tos, general information on how's and whys of what the government SHOULD be.

Really, this would be for me. But, because this is a supposed Democracy, I can't be happy on my own. I can't make my own laws. I have to put forth an effort to engage the audience in going along with what I feel is right, or wrong.

The vast majority of people in the US suck ass, which makes my idea almost worthless. They're constantly being forcefed lies by the media the officials they elected.

It's all really fucked up...and the real way to fix is to kill every political official and start over. It's in the hell hole right now, and there is really no way out.

Damn, that's really pesamistic. Maybe I could think on the bright side, I did a sport lead climb tonight (for anyone who cares, it's rock climbing, one the hardest forms there are). So, I'm feeling the highs from that.

She is right as rain, Pianomahnn. If you want to get a political discussion group going, well then cut loose. You post in a few different forums and you are in on right now that was set up for that very purpose. The admin are open to changes, it seems and there is the start of a good group to debate things.
All you need is a fucking forum and this is a good one. The only reasons that I can see for you to want your own site and to be in here recruiting, is 1)ego (self explainatory) and 2) to further erode this forum/site. Neither reason will get you a successful site, just cost you time, money and good will.

Oh Bother...Here goes...

When I initially started this humble thread, it was in hopes that some of the more political individuals who frequent this forum would be able to contribute to a site designed entirely to educate people, and nothing more. There are plenty of sites out there with people complaining about how things are, but don't do anything to change it. One man, myself, cannot do squat without the aid of others. Two heads are better than one, so on and so forth.

I've never seen this wonderful gathering of people as a political education site; more like a group of people who just have fun with each other and occasionally spout some wonderful ideas and well though out messages. I assumed that my idea would be met openly, being I didn't really ask for that much. As some of you may recall, I did not even ask for monitary involvement, just plain contextual input, and possibly site design from those with coding skills better than I.

I don't normally care to respond to people who call me names with no real reason. I'm above name calling and don't like to resort to that as a rebuttle. That is why I didn't cover my ass, because no one really came at me with anything worth responding to in a serious way.

This website was a spur of the moment idea and has nothing to do with my beliefs. They are still there; strong, guiding, my life blood. It bothers me that you would jump to the conlcusion that because I might have decided against a website, that you think I'm a hypcrite, spineless, patronzing fop. I just cannot see how you came to these conclusions.

Okay, the reason the government always "gets in" is because of people like you. You don't give a good god damn about anything and therefor don't undertake one of the most awesome rights you have as a citizen. You have no opression, and hopefully never will, but you should. Why? Discussions sites have been done, and always evolve into the same thing. It's simple education I'm after with this. of course I have an ego, but one that helps me get things done. I'm a wonderful pianist, and have an ego with that, I'm a very hard worker, and think I'm better than almost everyone around my age group. But that shouldn't matter, because it doesn't get the way, because it's personal, and I don't like to flaunt it. And I see not how asking for some help would erode this site. Was this implying that I posted trash, or that I wanted to take everyone away so RW would be the only one here? Those are the only two conclusions I can draw from that statement.
