Oh alright, although it will take all the class out of the thread.

The green one is 220D, 1973 114 model, a family wagon would be the apt desciption.

The red one is a 306D, 1975, sort of like a old VW van, but front wheel drive and it's been extended height wise and length wise. I guess you guys would call it a self-contained mobile home.

Both have 2 litre diesel engines, so not only are they old as fuck, they are also slow as fuck.

Still, how many people do you know that have two mercedes's?

And Poteen if you are reading this could you get your ass over to the teletubbie thread in the colloseum, A.S.A.P., I'm boring myself to tears here.

Drive myself? How "common". Actually, if I were to drive it would be something sensible like a SUV so I could easily run sinners and people using cell phones while driving off the road. Works every time.

PS...The new truck is very nice Faceplant. I would like to see it parked in front of the church Sunday morning.

I blend. I have not bought a vehicle in 20 years that wasn't invisible. Last summer I picked up a 95 Dodge caravan, medium blue.
I can drive right through a road block with this baby and would never be noticed by the cops.
Haven't had a ticket in decades.

I was raised with the devout understanding to buy nothing other than American automobiles. Growing up in Michigan really brought to my attention that America was losing way to many jobs in the Auto industry.
So what Am I driving these days? I drive a 98 Nissan Sentry. Yea so I didn't buy american, fuck you. Price, miles, longevity, and gas mileage were all taken into consideration. Speed, accessories, power were not. Until I get out of the military I have to go with what I can afford.
Considering it was assembled in the US and is comprised of 70% american parts you can call it whatever you want.

Is anything really foreign or domestic these days? Most foreign Manufacturers have assembly plants here and many of the parts are made here. Whereas many American manufacturers have moved their plants to where labor is the cheapest and many of parts are foreign made.. . What are your thoughts?? ?

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.

I used to have a 94 Ram with the 5.9 liter V-8. It was a pretty sturdy truck. Great engine, too.

I ended up trading it in because I was commuting like 20 miles to work, so the gas started getting too expensive.

The main problem with the Rams, is that they are notorious for faulty transmissions. This may have been corrected in some of the newer models, but from 94-98 the tranny's were terrible. Also, depending on location, the truck market is flooded with these trucks...so it is almost impossible to get a fair trade-in value, especially if it is not an extended-cab model.

I agree with you though, they are very sharp looking trucks, not to mention very easy to find accessories for customizing.

Very nice looking truck you've got there, Faceplant.

blank22 is correct about the Chrysler Automatic trannies. The problem has never been fixed and I doubt it will be. The manual trannies are fine. Moral of the story: If you buy Chrysler, buy a 5 speed.

Ya know, I used to believe the same thing about Fords, Dodges, and Chevy's. And then I actually started paying attention. Dodges turned out to be slow pieces of shit that rarely made it to 100,000 miles...sure they had gargantuan engines, but who really cares if you ahve to buy another one after 80,000. Chevy's are the fast ones, but cheaply made. And then my first vehicle to own was a 89 ford ranger. And that being my first vehicle I absolutely abused the living shit out of it. I got it with 28K on it, changed the oil every 30K miles, and it now has 130k miles on it and runs awesome. I have done nothing extreme to this truck. Spark plugs here, tires, air filters...I replaced the clutch a couple of times.

I nows have a 96 Ford Ranger, already has 110K on it...and I'm expecting it to last probably till 170K (because I'm not abusing it nearly as much). The only trucks I have found that can outlast a ford, are Toyotas. And in reality, Toyotas shouldn't count, because I think they use weedeater engines or something!

IMHO anything that has a solid rear axle and leaf springs suck. it is a car that goes in a straight line fast. woowoo hold me back. back in the 60's street rodding was cool so a muscle car had merit given the tech. but WTF new mustangs, camaros, firebirds ect still have solid rear axles. will they ever enter the 21st cenury? ohh it has a v8. big deal it is a throw back motor from the 60's too. do they just produce this shit so that white trash can live thier dreams of the better times? they could build some monsters with new engine and suspension designs. look at the honda s2000. 2.0 liter normally aspirated and 240 hp 9k rpm. that fucking rocks. 120 hp per liter and you can wind it out forever. pluse you can take corners and transitions very fast with the 6 spd trans. that is a fucking cool car. imagine using this tech in a v8, that would be stellar. well that is my two cents. i hate all of the muscle cars after 69 as they are pieces of shit.

[/quote]

Which came first, the four or the eight? Answer: the four. Eights were invented because four simply couldn't hack it. Eights are simply smoother.
Cornering? Who fucking cares. Driving fast and looking cool, that's what cars are about. oversteer makes it fun, four wheel drive is just boring.
And check this (http://formen.ign.com/news/22205.html) out. There's no replacement for displacement.

Ever smoked a Skyline GT-R? Cuz my "shit" 78 Trans Am sure has.
Fourpots are beneath my contempt. Give me at least a straight six.

Yeah, nowadays american muscle cars suck, compared to the old times. But your statement that "all muscle cars since 1969 suck" is just plain dumb. What about the 70-71 Hemicuda? If you say that they suck, there is something seriously wrong with you.

Oh, and check out http://www.twinturbov8.com to see what a V8 and an insane australian is capable of.

mr.snub your point on the hemicuda is valid. however, your statement about handling leads me to the assumption that you like nascar racing. that is just as lame and boring as stoplight drags. going fast in straight line is boring unless it is a top fuel eliminator. i don't know what a skyline-gt is so i couldn't tell you if i had smoked one or not. my guess is that if you give me any four cylinder or rotory of my choice and a good road (aka sharp turns with hils) i would leave them in the dust. my racing preference is toward european world rally, that is where the real drivers are. that is how i try to drive when i think i can pull it off safely. i cannot pull it off well given my current car. sigh. if i still had my old rx-7 i could do wonders. that car did have some issues like it needed the 13b motor not the 12a and it was the heaviest incarnation of rx-7 ever made. the last dissappointment was it too had a solid rear axle. i just don't understand that one. my buddies 73 240z had fully independent suspension for christ sake. god i loved that car. that is my next quest once out of school. i will find a 1970 240z as a project. i don't mean to diss muscle cars but i just find straight line runs boring and lame.

The fun begins when you try to steer a car that ways a ton and a half which puts all its power through its rear wheels. oversteer - now that's driving. I'm not a drag racer - i'm a road racer.
Plus i love the burble of a V8. Most fours sound like lawnmowers.
