I checked out the front page, and noticed we're supposed to be designing some shiznat...well, here's nothing.
A solid steel oval frame. Steel bands for movement (like a tank), except they are designed to it can move both on it's front, and back (this helps to avoid potential deadly flips).
The weapon will pretty much deter anyone from going near it. Placed at 4 points around the frame, will be very sturdy bicycle like gears, with about 2 inches of them sticking out past the frame. A chain will be placed on these, and welded to the chain will be numerous steel rods with spikes. The idea is to have this chain rotate at a very fast pace, making a sheild of sorts.
I think now, a circular design for the frame would be better to help stabalize forces created from the spinning rods. And 4 wheels will be used instead of treads. The front/back design still stands.
This is crude, and I have many ideas. I suck at graphic design, so if anyone can put to paper, what I have said, then go right ahead.
More to come...

flails are damn fine weapons, but not in this case, methinks. too easy for them to break, or get trapped up in random shit in a fight.
Treads are also not advised (by me anyway), Think back to Saving Private Ryan for reasons why.
Ok, now that I'm done pointing out what I see as negatives, the rounded design bit is good. Also, the fact that it can operate on either top or bottom. I like these two elements. Are we limited to one weapon? shit, I might as well go to the frontpage for the show and answer my own questions.
The faq, in pdf format, can be found here (http://www.battlebots.com/download/BB_RG1.7.1.pdf)
ok, I gave it a quicjk glance, and it seems that multiple weapoms are cool. Depending on weight class, we can have up to 5 ppl in the pit crew. This means a few things to me.
1. Each of the 5 can work a different function of the bot.
2. If we opt for a multibot, we are gonna need more than one operator anyway.
3. More of us get in on the carnage.
Lets get them brainpans fired up ppl. It reads that the next season starts May 24th in San Fran, CA... We can do this thing, and win.

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.

All those rules seem to take the fun out of it.
How about starting up a new arena, no holds barred, sort of like free fighting. Explosives, lasers etc., allowed. Have to draw the line at nukes I guess.
No audience, just cameras, do it in an old bunker or something. Or the Millenium Dome.

What, like backyard wrasslin, only robotic??? It might work, all we need is a person on the "inside" at Radio shack, to provide us with a ne'er ending supply of drones... I mean contestants http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

There's a HUGE potential market for blood sports. Robot drones are PERFECT for slipping under the radar of those Christian extremists who are actually AGAINST gladiatoral combat.

Do you think we could rig it with something like a signal jammer, that could take out the other bot's electrical shit?

Nope, no jamming shit is allowed by the rules.
I had this idea for a "Momma" bot, that would house 2 or 3 other smaller, faster bots. mulit-bots are allowed, but need to be operational as well at the end of a match.
lots to think about on this one.

Hmm. Well what about (and yes, i know it sounds stupid) if we could some how have our bot attatch a smaller object (that we could also control) by using a powerfull magnet, and drill it or some shit.
Just a thought, you can decide what it does when its attatched.
